Please help! Skip cat abuse?

I'm currently 64% through and really enjoying it - like everyone else, I have my theory on who the killer is, and would love to see if I'm right. But, a kitten has just arrived on the scene. Call me a sensitive snowflake or whatever, and I know animal abuse is a really common facet of psychopathic behavior - but no matter how fictional or crucial to the plot, I find it upsetting and I'm not going to read about it. Can anyone let me know the pages/chapters to skip? Or reassure me that a miracle occurs and the kitten lives happy ever after? ...Ever the optimist 😉

The cat lives! Skip p. 293-294 if you want. I didn't like the person who did this anymore at all, and I liked her before.
