Question: Do you think the apothecary vial in the Oct. BOM pick, The Lost Apothecary, would be considered a "cultural artifact" for prompt 5.2? I have The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History in my list already, but the BOM could be an extra, or might help other participants if they are going to read with the group in Oct. Also, I think People of the Book would be perfect, but I already read it. "

Welcome, TerryJane! 🤗
Thanks for your kind words! 😊
Answering your question: if you think the book fits the prompt it's ok, I don't need more reasons (BTW: I didn't know that book but I want to read it now, it looks very promising) and I don't need to tell you that you can read all the books you want for each prompt.
Excellent choices! 😍

I mentioned three books, Carmen. Which one looks promising? You can call me nosy if you wish, but I prefer curious. 🤷‍♀️

I'll be here reading these 12 books among other things LOL. I had 12 and my tired brain thought of December and then 12 days. And no there is no way I could read 12 books in 12 days -- unless they were picture books :D

I'm thinking about using The Lost Book of the Grail, but was wondering about a couple of others, including This is Your Mind on Plants because it just seems like coffee is such a social artifact of our culture. . . hmmm ."

As I said to TerryJane, if you think it fits the prompt, it seems perfect to me 👌
You all have such wonderful ideas, I love your suggestions too 😍

According to wikipedia:
A cultural artifact, or cultural artefact (see American and British English spelling differences), is a term used in the social sciences, particularly anthropology,[1] ethnology[2] and sociology[citation needed] for anything created by humans which gives information about the culture of its creator and users. Artifact is the spelling in North American English; artefact is usually preferred elsewhere.

Cultural artifact is a more generic term and should be considered with two words of similar, but narrower, nuance: it can include objects recovered from archaeological sites, i.e. archaeological artifacts, but can also include objects of modern or early-modern society, or social artifacts. For example, in an anthropological context: a 17th-century lathe, a piece of faience, or a television each provides a wealth of information about the time in which they were manufactured and used.

Cultural artifacts, whether ancient or current, have a significance because they offer an insight into: technological processes, economic development and social structure, among other attributes.
