Jaid | 29 comments Hi friends! I actually read this series earlier this year - I listened to the audiobooks for them when I was doing things like driving or cooking or cleaning and couldn't read because that's how much I wanted to keep reading. I really liked the narrator for the series, but maybe I will do a reread without the audiobook this time and see how it holds up. It's one of the books I credit for getting me back into reading this year!

Also, everyone has book boyfriends but Jude is my forever book gf. I fell in love with her in the first book. I love how flawed and determined and clueless and unapologetic she is. I am also a certified simp for Cardan, and I do wish the series had more Cardan content than what is in the three books. Like, can Holly Black just pull an SJM and crank out five more books about this world?

Yeah...I definitely need to do a reread just so I can give a proper review of this book. I think all I did was a short blurb about my undying love for morally grey male love interests.

Thank you for sharing! We can't deny how hot Cardan and Jude is, can we?

I also read this series earlier this year and I loved it! Tbh I started reading it expecting a series that mainly focuses on the love story because of TikTok. That was not it but I was not disappointed! I found the politics really good developed and the plot kept me intrigued.

I think it's definitely worth reading a physical copy of it. It's one of my favorites of the year!

Jaid | 29 comments Yes!! The same thing happened to me! Booktok had two big recs for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and it was The Cruel Prince and From Blood and Ash. And I was not a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing style, but boy did I love the way Holly Black writes! The politics were so well established. I want to read her standalones. Maybe I will do that this month too.

Sinead, I hope you get the time to read it and good luck with your uni work!
Jaid, I haven't read a court of thorns and roses but the Cruel Prince is one of the most hyped books on booktok anyways and especially for its romance. I really did enjoy it but still I found overhyped and for the wrong reasons. Booktok's favs are a hit or miss I think

Sofi Flores (fsofireads) Hi everyone! I read this book a few months ago and I loved it, I was kind of disappointed because booktok said it was an 'enemies to lovers' and it actually wasn't. I did enjoy the fantasy and politics part of the book though.

Yes same! Booktok hyped up the romance aspect of the book so much that I was expecting a lot more than that. But I also loved it!

Hi! I finished reading this book few days back and I loved it but I still found few things over hyped. So, it gave 4 out of 5. According to me the booktok totally hyped the romance aspect of the book. It was told that it will be 'enemies to lovers' but it wasn't which was really disappointing. However the Politics were established nicely and I like the way of Holly Blacks writes. And my buddy read member made the book a little more fun for me. And I can't deny the fact how hot Cardan is. From the first moment I had a crush on him and I think he is my new book boyfriend.
