This month, our featured book club book is Roman and Jewel by Dana L. Davis.

You may remember Davis's debut novel, Tiffany Sly Lives Here Now from 2018. In her newest novel, Romeo and Juliet is remade as a hip-hop musical on Broadway, where even the actors cannot escape love triangles and star-crossed couples.

Have you read anything by Davis before? What feelings do you have towards retellings? What are your expectations for this novel?

I have read two of Davis' novels, Roman and Jewel and Tiffany Sly Lives Here Now. I expected this novel to be a cross between Hamilton and West Side Story and take place mainly on the Broadway stage.
