She knew who she was and never forgot where she came from. She was constantly trying to live up the the "Southern Woman" that Annamae saw in her, striving to be that person when circumstances would intervene. The whole stripper thing and her enjoying it made me cringe

Honestly nothing made me cringe about Daisy. She used the skills she has to make a good living and begin to enjoy life.

One of the most universally loved people in show business is Dolly Parton. Dolly always said her look was inspired by the town tramp, but she hopes she is more than that. Peg Bundy liked the good things in life.
I knew who Daisy was as soon as I read that descriptor. She can laugh at herself. She is a kind, bubbly person with a rough past, and now wants to enjoy her designer clothes, nice car, etc. She doesn't give a crap about what people think.
I admire her for owning her style, and not apologizing for it. What made me cringe was the numerous mentions that some guy bought her boobs for her. That doesn’t seem like a Daisy thing to me. She would want to buy her own boobs. All her coochie talk made me cringe too.

Laura, I also thought her letting a guy pay for her “boob job” went against her nature, too. The coochie reference, especially on audio, was jarring every time she uttered it. It ain’t a Southern term, either.
I really, really admired her being unapologetic about who she was, inside and outside. She owned it and didn’t try to please anyone but herself. And, she really does have a big heart.

 Oh god!
Oh god! While I appreciated Daisy's self-confidence and admired her acceptance of her sense of style, it is just so very different from my own that I found myself cringing at some of her outfits. Her comment about every woman needing a leopard print had me shuddering lol!
@Jonetta - I could not agree more about listening to the "coochie" references. They were very jarring and became annoying after a while. Euphemisms have their place but not this time!

Me, too, Laura. My only guess was him giving her the money for it was the only thing that distinguished him from the other jerks she dated.

Laura wrote: "Her even getting it done sort of goes against her be yourself philosophy."I also felt this way. There is no explanation of why she felt the need for it.
I guess I looked at this differently. Her connection to Dolly Parton made me think the boob job was important to the image she wanted to portray.

That’s a great point.

  That’s a great point.
Some of her determination to dress in a way that was over the top was a bit cringe worthy. It's almost as if she pushed herself to be that way just to make a point. It did get the idea across that she was her own woman, but she knew how out of place she was when she went out with Marcus and chose to be that way.
