Loved it! Possibly better than THE MARTIAN

I really loved it too - it was one of those books that I told everyone in my family they needed to read - that doesn't happen very often.

I can see that--the writing is just as good as in The Martian, but it's a different kind of scifi story, etc.

Humm ... I would rate The Martian slightly higher, but they are both damn good reads.

I rated The Martian slightly higher as well--4.5 and I rounded up to 5. I would say that for me Project Hail Mary was more than 4 stars, but less than 4.5 and so I rounded it down. There were more familiar things for me in Project Hail Mary whereas The Martian was rather fresh, plus a few other reasons.

But I have an average GR rating of 3.2 stars this year so far (I am trying to get that up so am reducing reading challenges and group reads). My normal average is 3.4 (but 2020 brought that down quite a bit.)
