I read this book around 2015 or so. The cover is a dark blue with a silver amulet/necklace thing with a dark blue oval gem that takes up the whole cover. The book starts with the main character going to a hidden theme park with fantastically impossible rides that is made entirely for kids. The park's entrance is in a dump/wrecking yard (I think it is the latter). The main character goes there to race his RC car on a very cool and enormous racetrack. Right as he is about to win, he passes out and goes into a coma. When he wakes up he has the power to change reality and he has a blue amulet. He is also apparently full/made of dark energy/matter, which gives him his powers. When he wakes up, the supposed doctor who was taking care of him when he was in the coma tells him about his powers and that just like he woke up with the powers to be a good hero, someone else woke up with the powers to be a bad person. This was supposed to balance out the presence of purely good and evil beings that arrived on earth from a different dimension when they passed out. The people who run the hidden theme park are also revealed to be being from this different dimension, which is why they were able to make it so cool. In the sequel/prequel, it shows what happened when they were passed out and how they got their powers. In the sequel, they are in the dimension the beings came from I believe. The main character gets help in exchange for helping the guy also get powers, but to do that, he would have to replace the other "good candidate" that was meant to balance out the evil beings on earth. At the end of the book, a sort of God or something gives them the amulets and the main character betrays the "good candidate" (who I remember lived in poverty and would use her powers to help her family) to keep his promise to the guy who helped him. The main character also becomes friends with the "bad candidate" in this book because he doesn't really get what's going on. The sequel has a green amulet and cover I believe.
