Victor snapped out of his thoughts and lifted his head at the voice. He cursed mentally as his eyes fell upon a female standing in front of him. He had hoped to come find an empty enough spot where he can just collect himself and leave and a park was usually a good place for those types of things but he had not expected to actually talk to people. Not a lot of people did. But then again, his mind forgot to remind him the park was a social place filled with a bunch of people. He clenched his fist in annoyance before turning and sitting up and properly propping his back against the hard wood to acknowledge the person.
Victor's gaze softened just barely and he did not attempt a smile. "I'm fine, thanks for asking," he replied, his plain and stressed tone saying otherwise. He averted his eyes from the girl and placed a hand in his lap. "It's just a couple of personal problems," he stated dismissively, before vaguely adding, "It's not much." She was just a stranger. She wouldn't understand it, even if he explained it and the last thing he needed was someone calling a mental hospital for his hallucinations. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, looking for any sort of reaction from the woman.
The young male rotated his head back to the lady as he sensed movement in front of him. His hopes of her walking off and leaving him alone began to rise as she began to move, before instantly deflating in disappointment as her figure drew closer and promptly sat down right next to him. He visibly flinched in surprise at the stranger. Although dressed more casually, it did not cover or even stifle the strong aura of boldness she gave off. He had a small feeling she'll try to worm answers out of him, giving him a sense of dread. "How great. Just my luck," he thought sourly, predicting the different outcomes already.
As she mentioned his wound up position, without thinking about it, he let his shoulders droop and took a breath in, gladly relieving some of the tension on his body. He let out a short and dry laugh. "Yeah, I know," he answered sarcastically. He tilted his head ever so slightly, his gaze hard. "It's just a bunch of small things. I guess I'm a bit paranoid," he said, throwing out a small excuse. Yes, he had to admit he also had family problems, but there were just different things on his mind at the moment. He hoped he could draw her away from finding about what was actually on his mind. It would just be too difficult to even talk about. Ranting to a stranger wasn't exactly his thing and he tried to keep his words as general as possible.
Victor observed the young woman warily. Yup, it looks like this situation would be harder to push into his favor. He felt a twinge of annoyance. He placed his elbow on the metal armrest and rested his head in his open palm as he listened to her talk. She sure seemed persistent. At one sentence, he paused and followed her gaze around the park. "People?" he mumbled, almost completely inaudible. "No, it's not really like that" is what he wanted to say. He mentally shook his head, glad he didn't mention it.
The white-haired boy lifted his eyes to her as she asked if he had wanted a drink. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. It was a rather spontaneous question, especially considering he had just met her. He didn't mind the idea of alcohol, but he couldn't help but wonder if it was okay in this scenario. After some quick pondering and a period of hesitance, he finally spoke up. "I might need one," he said quietly. "But I don't even know you," he added slowly.
Victor scoffed and rolled his eyes, but that couldn't stop a tired and exasperated smile from sneaking onto his face. He let out a breathy chuckle at her simple sentence before turning his head away and covering his mouth in his palm after realizing what he had just done. As he took his hand away, his face returned back to its regular expression, but there were still faint traces of the fading grin before disappearing completely. His muscles slowly relaxed more and although his face was still focused as usual, it was begrudgingly a bit more softer with his eyes holding a bit of amusement in them.
Victor rubbed the back of his neck and turned to the stranger next to him. "Well, I guess you kind of have a point," he mused hesitantly. He had to confess, he needed a drink to let his mind off his life for awhile, but he still had to be careful. Although the girl's intentions seemed nice, he still refused to actually tell her about the randomly fading objects. He twisted the ring on his hand before grabbing onto the metal bar and starting to prepare to pull himself off the bench.
The boy stood up and turned towards the girl known as Temperance. He nodded. "Victor," he replied in return, reaching out and giving the girl's outstretched hand a short shake. The said boy internally face palmed and sweat dropped at the last part of her sentence, but let it go, guessing that he probably should've been expecting it by now anyways. "Well, let's go," he declared. Victor stepped out of the shade and began to walk off, slowly beginning to lengthen his steps with each stride, only glancing once behind him to check if Temperance was keeping up. "Coming?" He asked, stopping in his tracks.
Victor waited for her to catch up, quickly scanning their surroundings whilst he stood there. He looked back to the bench, seeing an outline of a cat, before it disappeared completely, similar to the past experiences during the week. He blinked his eyes once and stared at the empty spot for a split second before turning his gaze away, ignoring it once again.
((Sorry for the shortness, have to go shower))Victor strode after her as she walked away. His hands found their way into his pockets as he followed Temperance's lead towards the bar. He shrugged his shoulders. "I thought I did," he lied in response to her question. "Found it," he said smoothly as he patted his pocket where his phone resided, using it as a makeshift excuse in case she asked.
Victor quickened his pace and maneuvered around the other park occupants as he kept up with Temperance. "…So what do you have in mind?" He asked, over the chatter of the park. There were different bars in Theobury and he occasionally explored each of them, but he wasn't familiar with all of them, much less their location. He was curious to see what her choice would be.
"Yeah," he agreed. Victor didn't think much of it. Sure, he was well informed on using technology and enjoyed having it on him and besides using it for regular calls and other things like the internet, he didn't really use it too much. He was usually on his own and he didn't have a lot of numbers saved in his phone, save for the regular house phone, his father, the other house workers, and a select few others.
Victor caught up to Temperance and walked beside her. "Ah yes," he replied, nodding his head. It was a good restaurant and although money usually wasn't a problem for him, the prices were reasonable enough. If he remembered correctly, the walking distance wasn't very far from the park. "Good choice," he acknowledged mindlessly.
((I'll just reply to this one real quick and then I'll move to and wait at the Hut))Victor was caught off guard at the sudden question, his eyes widening in surprise. He internally grimaced at the question, thinking about the actual truth behind the strange color. His hand wandered towards the nape of his neck, feeling the bright platinum blonde, almost white, hairs under his fingers. "I dyed it a couple years back," he answered, truthfully. "A lighter color seemed better than the other options," he said simply while shrugging his shoulders.
He had told a bit of the truth to Temperance, just in a really general and shortened version. As he looked back on it, the real reason was pretty random and stupid. Victor had done it in high school to piss a couple people off and he ended picked one of the more crazier colors (although not overly outrageous like the galaxy patterns) the shop had to offer. He did not regret it though, and although there were times he missed his natural color, he had grown rather fond of it. He glanced forward and saw that they were nearing their destination.
(( Cam, I shall start this soon. And to anybody: please ask if you want to join this thread; we'd like one more character around Ivy and Soren's age~ ))
