Date Completed.
Rating/Review.
**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**
Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.
Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.
PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 13, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

I'm in California, so a little later than everyone usually.
I've never played this one, but I've been doing long team challenges for a long time. It looks interesting.
Does anyone have an idea for a name?
I'm not great at coming up with them, but my ideas are
Book Devouring Dragons
Bibliophobia Free Zone
A Novel Idea

I'm Lorene from North Carolina, so my timezone is EDT. I've never done this challenge either but I'm about done with my first scavenger hunt in the MM group and have played Bingo in that group several times.
I like Book Devouring Dragons as a team name!

I love all the names :)

Be forewarned that all of us read almost exclusively m/m so your options for choosing from another group member's read list might be rather limited in that respect :)

There may be several cases that we all need to read similar things.
Like if we all have to read the same series, or the same book.
We all read m/m and don't deviate from that much.
So if you're down with male male romance, we'd be happy to have you.

I've never played, but I don't mind reporting and keeping track.
It looks pretty strait forward. But I'm also cool with someone else doing it. What do you think?
Lorene and I both like
Book Devouring Dragons
is everyone okay with that?

Romance Readers Reading Challenges

We should figure out what authors we like that we have in common...or series.
Maybe we should list out a few of our favorite authors, or series we are reading or willing to reread, to see if we have any in common....and maybe if you have a HELL NO, list it so we avoid it.
For me...YES
Among the Living 1st book is to short to qualify for 150pg , but all the others should.
Prey
Three Nick Nowak Mysteries
Dead Speak
Risky Behavior
Diversion
No
I will read Mary Calmes, as long as there is no Jory in site.

I'm open for almost anything BUT my wallet would sure appreciate books/series/authors available on KU or hoopla. There's so many series I haven't read yet that I'm fairly open.
I will read Mary Calmes, as long as there is no Jory in site
Don't you know? They're all Jorys! :P

K.M. Neuhold (KU)
K.J. Charles (Hoopla)
N.R. Walker (KU)
Alessandra Hazard (KU)
Eliot Grayson (KU)
Eli Easton (KU)
Lucy Lennox (KU)
Barbara Elsborg (KU)
Andrew Greyson (Hoopla and KU I'm pretty sure)
I am super flexible though, and am open to just about anything. My only rule is that the book/series needs to have an HEA for me to enjoy it!
I'm honestly not sure if Hoopla is international, so avoiding those may be beneficial for Emeli and Simran

ETA: Simran isn't accepting messages. It came up in another challenge - I believe GR changed everyones settings to only accept messages from GR friends. 🤬 You all might think about checking your settings.

here are some of my favourite authors
jayda marx
tara lain
renae kaye
clancy nacht
cardeno c

ETA: S..."
I changed my settings.
I wanted to invite the player who reads m/m, but I didn't want Simran to be left out, if she did agree to read m/m.

Understand. I've asked her in the signup thread to add more info about her reading preferences so I can make sure she gets on a team that works best for everyone involved. On a quick glance, I didn't see MM on her shelves.
I've added Red Really to your team, hopefully they will check in soon!

I think keeping it KU for when we have to read the same author or series is a great idea.
We should figure out one or two authors we can agree on.
Maybe we should list our our likees and dislikes to try to narrow it down some.
I'm pretty flexible, and will read just about anything.
but my go to's are
Urban fantasy
Paranormal
Private detectives or Law Enforcement
Mystery
and maybe Teen Wolf fan fic here
I like dark, but I'm good with fluffy and sweet.
I have to have my arm twisted to read
Historical (I can do 70's and 80's)
Steam Punk
Aliens
I also took a look at Red Really's read list...and thought maybe
Sam Burns might have something for all of us.
They have several paranormal series, but they also have a Musicians series also, if someone dislikes pnr.
and I think all her books, or most are KU

I’m from South Dakota (not many MM novels set here). Joined RRRC this year. I have KU and Scribd. No Hoopla but I’ve heard Scribd/Hoopla have quite a bit of overlap.
MM Authors I enjoy:
KJ Charles, Sam Burns(KU), Maz Maddox(KU), Anyta Sunday(KU), TJ Klune, but I am willing to try others since I’m still fairly new to the genre.
Series I wanna try or know I already love: oh so very many to list… let’s just say most fantasy/paranormal series on KU/Scribd I’d be willing to try. Or read/reread.
My Nos: Anything dark. I can take a bit of angst and a bit of dark but torturously dark (violent sad etc) is not for me unless I’m in the rare mood. Also not big on SciFi but I can do if needed.
27. We need to decide a year prior to 2018 for publishing date. Thoughts?
29. A profession?
33. Same sub-genre. Well MM should count for this so we’re already reading in a sub-genre.
49. Same month and year published. I think it’s easier to access newer book so I vote for 2019, 20, or 21 for year. Not picky on month.
50. Same location. What’s a popular region for authors? I’ve noticed a lot of Oregon and California settings.
52. Cover Color?
76. Cover item that’s fairly common?
79. Trope we all might like? I’d be up for paranormal detectives.
88. Boat, plane, car, or motorcycle?
92. Future or past - personally vote for past but Skye isn’t a fan so could do future. I have a series I’m slowly working my way through that is future.
95. Animal? Rabbit! Ok kidding, I like bunnies but there aren’t a ton on them on MM book covers. Something more popular would probably be wolves.
Looks like there are some other decisions to make too, and some lists to pick. Complicated challenge isn’t it?

my votes
27. We need to decide a year prior to 2018 for publishing date. I'm open, but I don't want to go back to far...2016 or 2017 probaby. Pre-2010 would be to hard.
29. A profession? Private detective
50. Same location California seams easiest
49. Same month and year published. Oh jeeze! yeah, something more recent...i have no idea.
52. Cover Color? Black?
79. Trope we all might like? I’d be up for paranormal detectives. I agree.
88. Boat, plane, car, or motorcycle? Car seams easiest
92. Future or past Past...but really hoping 80's will count
95. Animal? Wolf

53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town state (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task
I'm in California. I think this is a really easy state to find books in.
What do you all think?
55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
IMO something in the UK is gonna have the most options. But maybe someone has a book they would really like somewhere else?
58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
What years did you all join?
I joined a few days ago...so 2021
64. Read 6 books not set on a continent of a teammate. Space does not count - must be a real continent.
3 of us are in North America, and is easy?
71. Pick another team and each member reads one book that was read by a member for this challenge. No pass for this task.
I recommend Racing Rainbows
I know all the members and they have great read shelves.
72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
Oh crap...more historical.
I'm the 1970's.
Please tell me one of you were born in the 80's or 90s
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
This one is hard.
suggestions
Dead Speak KU PNR
The Cardigans KU Mystery > Crime
A Ferry of Bones & Gold KU PNR
Love Is a Stranger KU Mystery > Crime
91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long. No pass for this task.
I was born in 75, what about everyone else?
93. As a team, pick a Romance List from GR Listopia with less than 100 books on it, each teammate reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.
M/M Books with a Goodreads Rating above 4.50 stars 80 books
Best MM/Gay romance with cheating hero 99 books
August 2021 MM Releases
July 2021 MM Releases
94. Read 6 books published in sequential years, teams decide years.
suggest 16,17,18,19, 20, 21
96. Read a minimum of 1200 pages with the sun or the moon on the cover, teams decide which.
suggest...Moon
After doing SH, Moon is easier to find.

55. UK would be good since it has a lot of options too.
58. I joined 2020.
64. Not set on a continent of a teammate. So not North America or Europe - am I reading that right?
71. Sure to Racing Rainbows.
72. I’m 90’s!!
82. I’m okay with most of those though I prefer books that aren’t very dark. I do really wanna try both Dead Speak and A Ferry of Bones & Gold but I’ve been putting them off to catch up on other series a bit.
91. 92 for me. So 75+89+92+95.
94. years 2016 - 21 sounds good to me.
96. Either works for me.
First tasks are posted on the 21st right?

I think this challenge has a lot more teamwork involved than I've ever seen before.
To make things easier when the task gets called...I'll list our decisions out in bold in post #12 (just for the ones that seem like they need discussions)
Just makes it easier if we have an idea, instead of trying to work it out all week before we can even start reading.
Our time zones make it a little difficult.
Narrowing down....
82.Dead Speak and A Ferry of Bones & Gold
Does anyone have any objection to either book, or have a preference between the 2? If someone dislikes we can find something different.
Since we each have to read a different book, within the same series...I've started both and can read deep into the series....leaving the books 1, 2, 3 open to those who haven't started the series.
and back to 1. Each player reads a book by the same author,
I think Red and I are both good with Sam Burns
but is that okay with you Emeli and Lorene

You’re doing fine Skye. It’s a team challenge so we all get to help each other out and communicate. Thanks for doing the bold, could even bold the whole task rather than just the answer (either works).
82. I might be leaning towards Dead Speak, (then if the paranormal detective trope works for others then we can read that same series again) but I’m pretty laid back so long as it isn’t too dark a series that gets chosen.
I think there were two different tasks that were all read a book by the same author (1 and 51) so we could chose two different authors and line one up to each task then see if either task gets assigned.

70s 80s or 90s
my vote. 80s (only because I think there are more options)
Vote
76. Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover, team selects item
my vote: Shirt
79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.
my vote:
closest I could find to work with paranormal detective.
Partners In Fighting Crime or
Workplace Romances
99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them.
List 5 favorite books (I'll add to post 12 for ease)
My list--To hard to narrow down, so trying to stick to KU, and not dark
Prey sorry, not KU, but I had to include
Three Nick Nowak Mysteries KU
Don't... KU sorry, it's dark, RED you will NOT like this
By Fairy Means or Foul KU
The Cardigans KU

79. I like Partners in Crime Fighting. Emeli? Lorene? So far we’re just running with my suggestion but if it doesn’t work for you speak up when you get a chance to log in.
76. Shirt! I was sorta trying to think what is a good common object on the cover. People do wear shirts (not as often as no shirts in the MM genre but hey). Nice.
99. Oh man….. uhm…..so I had like 9, but narrowed it to these:
-Heroes for Ghosts KU
-Love for the Cold-Blooded, or The Part-Time Evil Minion's Guide to Accidentally Dating a Superhero Scribd or I should be able to Kindle loan, I think. Never tried to do that before.
-Project Hero KU
-Smash & Grab KU & Scribd
-Red Heir KU & Scribd

70s vs 80 vs 90s: Like Red, I haven't read much published before the aughts (unless you count, like, Interview With a Vampire). I'm up for whatever the group decides and I trust your judgement on their being more available in the 80s.
79. Partners in Fighting Crime works for me as I'm currently devouring the Hazard and Sommerset series and want to get to the rest of Gregory Ashe's backlist
76. Shirt is a great answer. I'm all for this.
82. If we're choosing between those two series, I would go with Dead Speak as the books are shorter. This would make life easier for whoever does book 3.
1. Sam Burns is fine with me. I've read a few of her shifter books.
I'm good with California for location and agree that moon would be easier to find over sun on the cover.

Three's Company by N.R. Walker (KU)
The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek (Availble for free on LiveJournal)
Falling Down by Eli Easton (KU) (Red I'm not sure what "Dark" means to you but this deals with mental health issues)
Smoky Mountain Dreams by Leta Blake (KU)
And I know we're trying to stick to KU but if you want to read a great manga, Dick Fight Island, Vol. 1 might be my favorite thing I've read this year.

Going my the mm romance group book shelf
time-period-1970-79 (61)
time-period-1980-89 (115)
time-period-1990-99 (60)
That's quite a few more to choose from.
I'll link to their bookshelf in post 12

The MMRG Time Period bookshelves are setting. They do have Year Published bookshelves too though.

oh dear god! You are right! I'm so sorry I misread that.
m/m romance published in the 80's would be dismal.
Okay...I think our only option is either published in the 90s...if we want m/m but lets face it....m/m options are not good...but still better than 70-80s. But I guess we could always venture into non-mm if needed.
