Morgan | 6 comments The book, Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Munoz Ryan, had me hooked immediately. I felt so much sympathy for Naomi and Owen that I couldn’t stop reading till I knew everything worked out for them. They were thrown into so many big and impactful moments at such a young age, all I wanted to do was hug them.

Naomi and Owens father was my favorite character. He was quick to admit his mistakes and state how he wished he did thing differently. I think that he had to do some deep reflect and thinking on that for so many year and that it always ate him up inside. Its not always easy to admit your mistakes! I also really enjoy his character because I think it have so much hope for Naomi, Owen, and their Grandmother. They were so discouraged and he gave them all their hope back and so much more positive outcomes came with their father. This is also a time she found out where she came from and how some of her passions connect wth her fathers.

I feel as though so many kids could find a connection to this book. Weather it I the fact that they are raised by their grandparents, or they have had to meet a parent for the first time, or that they are being forced to move with a parent they’ve never met, or even something as simple as going to a new country, having a problem at home that you don't think your friend will understand, or not being able to speak a language people expect you to. Wether its big or little, I think many kids could relate to this book.
