Alex | 3 comments Hi!! Ok I have NEVER done a form post before lol! My name is Alex and I’m 18! There was this book I LOVED and read in middle school- so around the years of 2013-2015?? God I hope that’s right- but anyway! I remember it being a pink looking book, I believe it had a large yellow star on the front, and it was meant to look a bit like a Journal/ diary- I think this because I remember, a leather looking print of a- belt? holding it closed, it definitely wasn’t a real piece of leather, but it was made to look like it was a journal. The book was about a girl, I assume she was made to be around 15?? She definitely wasn’t like a little little girl, and I remember there being a wedding taking place, her dad was getting divorced with her mother ((or she die?)) , and her dad was marrying a mean stepmother. I believe there was an older daughter that was the step mother’s kid? I’ve vaguely remember her kid bullying her. The girl was imaginative, I even wanna say she was a redhead?? But she did not like her stepmom and I remember the specific detail of her new stepmom making her boiled cabbage lol. I don’t remember what led up to her going onto the journey to find the magic star recipe, maybe it was a recipe from her mom or a part of me wants to say was some thing she found with her grandma’s stuff? But the cookie had some kind of magical property, I don’t remember what it did specifically. But she goes on a journey to find it and ends up at a fortuneteller? ((Maybe that’s what the cookie did maybe at read fortunes idk)) and the fortuneteller was able to give her the little magic scroll that had the recipe on it. I don’t really remember how it ends? Maybe the cookie fixed her family situation?? But I remember the book being kind of funny and well written, at least from my little kid mind! But a big detail I remember is that it actually contained the recipe for the star cookie, I remember wanting to write it down when I was in middle school, I can definitely search through my many many notebooks I kept from school to see if maybe I did write it down, because I was really into baking books, books that have fantasy baking stuff attached to it. It was definitely a chapter book though, and fiction, it wasn’t like a little preschooler book at all, I read it for my AR reading thing, which was a program to get us to read a certain amount of books and take test on them for a grade. It was the same lvl / style of Emily wind snap books. I’ve tried googling it with like the specific plot details but, I’m not really getting anything, the closest thing I could find was a book within the same genre of a group of friends making magic cookies but it wasn’t the same book. If you have any information or even remember reading the book that would be great! I have no idea what the age range of this board is, maybe no one has ever heard of this book lol- but if you have any leads please let me know! (( and lmk if I set this up wrong :’) )) TYSM!!

Mai | 1280 comments The Truth Cookie by Fiona Dunbar? It's not an exact match but just in case!

EDIT: Google Books has a preview of the book and you can search words inside and it does mention boiled cabbage! Maybe this is it then! (fingers crossed).
Also, I checked Rainbowheart's lists and this book is in the second list :-)
