Thank you for the suggestions but they were not the books :( I was in the UK at the time if that narrows it down and were in English.
Have you tried searching e.g. Amazon UK for "colours board book" and browsing through the results? If you use the advanced search you can even filter for books published before 2000. It would be quicker / easier way to look through a lot of possibilities in one go.
Dan, was the monsters book about colours, shapes or numbers? What about the castles book?

They were also different themed. One was monsters and another was castles.
If any one has any idea what the books were called, it would really be helpful :) Thank you in advanced!
