I'll read it eventually. Depends on when my hold comes in from the library and how fast I finish TAR.
I'm in the same boat as you on both book, Alex. Shame cause I have a hardcover and audio version of Half a King.
I've been delaying reading HtW that I won a few weeks ago in the giveaway to wait for you ingrates! hehe j/k...Yeah, if I felt the same about HaK as I did Firefight I'd not be jumping on it either. But while I actively disliked Firefight, I found HaK passably enjoyable.
I plan on reading it but probably not right away. Will get it from my library if/when it becomes available. I skipped Firefight but intend to get to it at some point also.
Welp, I will go ahead and set up the chapter divisions/discussion groups. If nobody else is starting right away I might wait a bit...Got 2 more Demon Cycle, 1 more Tao, and An Welcome Quest in the mean time. Plus we start Malazan on the 21st, no?
I have it on hold at the library, but I'm second in line, so I'll probably start late. I don't want to buy it since its kind of expensive and I didn't LOVE the first book.
I have it on Pre-Order in Hardback, and it got dispatched yesterday. I got the pre-order price guarantee from Amazon, so it didn't cost me that much. First book was OK, I liked it enough to continue. I will start it once i finish Autumn Republic.
w00t...I am liking HtW quite a bit...It doesn't feel nearly as predictable or YAish as HaK...Much more entertaining so far (I am about 50% through).
Man you guys all read too fast for me to keep up with my own group. I probably won't finish TAR for at least a day or two, and you're already halfway done with another book..

I really wish I read faster. You'd think after all the books I've read, I'd be a faster reader, but I'm not. Then again I probably am fast compared to the general population, just not the population of good reads.
Oh well, thank god for audiobooks..

I'm not a fast reader either, I just do a lot of commuting and get very little sleep, plus an hour of audio at the gym every day.Yeah Alex, I think you should read HtW...I am pretty positive you'll enjoy it more than HaK.

Of course, I'll be awaiting all of you..."
I agree with you about the Reckoners series. I had to force myself to finish Firefight. But I liked HaK and so far really like HaW.
I'm a huge Abercrombie fan but I have to admit that HaK was probably my least favorite of his. Not bad but not anything I got super excited about. HtW on the other hand is awesome (I'm about halfway through). Thorn might be the coolest female character he's ever written and I like Brand quite a bit as well.
