The dance room

Ettelyn needed to clear her head. There was no room for mistakes in her line of work. Pointe was meant to be airy and light, she felt like an elephant in a pair of toe shoes. There was no way she was going to disappoint her mother even more. She wasn't able to make the Dance team captain, couldn't even be good enough to be in the Orchid house. No more mistakes, voices screamed in her head. She rolled up onto her pointe shoes, soft noises coming from the tips of her toes. She stretched towards the bar. Her legs were etched with muscle. After a few minutes of stretching, she walked over to her phone and pressed play. A beautiful classic piece began to play. Her feet and arms and body did the work for her. She forced her technique to its limits. She danced gracefully.

Nicholas had been walking around the East Wing for over half an hour. He had gotten out of one of his classes, the teacher mostly let him go because he was had already finished the homework and class work for much of the week. He started to feel an angry itch inside his body, so he needed to get out of the class quick before something bad happened.
So, Nic decided to go to the dance room because he was certain that the dance teacher wasn’t there as well as any students. Plus, the dance room had good acoustics for singing, and he wanted to practice a new song the Acapella group just go.
Though, along the way to the dance room, he stopped short just outside of the door. There was soft music playing. 'Who's playing music?' his mind wondered as he tried to quietly open the door to see who it was. Unfortunately for him, the door decided to creak, probably alerting the person in the room of his presence. 'Curse the stupid door' he thought to himself.

Ettelyn was too far in with the music to notice any noises coming from the door. As she stretched and danced to the gracious music she couldn't stop. She went on pointe turned, did jumps. Anything to get her mind with the music. Her face was etched with what she felt the song meant. The music dragged on, some would say one would get tired, but with only herself in the room she continued dancing harder, and harder.

When Nichola saw who was in the dance room was, he was slightly shocked. But most of his thoughts go cut off as he began to watch the girl dancing. It was as if he was in a trance, the dancing matched perfectly to the gracious music and the girl was really good at her part of it.
Without really realizing what he was doing, Nic took a step into the room and quietly shut the door, which didn't make a single noise this time. He made his way to a few chairs close to the mirrors on one side of the wall. And he sat down, his eyes never really leaving the girl. Sure, if he was thinking right, he may have found this creepy. But right now, his mind was in a place of peace and quiet as the music dragged on and the girl continued to dance.

After doing a bunch of grand jete's around the room she opened her eyes and saw a boy sitting and watching her. She knew she couldn't just freak out and stop dancing altogether like dancers on those reality tv shows. and she knew the music was about to end so she continued until the music faded out.
As the music faded she placed her foot and began to turn, one after the other. While on pointe. The music had stopped playing its melodious tune, but she continued to turn. After a good 8 or 9 turns, she stoped landing in a wide fourth and completing the dance. Her back was to the boy.

The girl dancing, spun once, then twice, and then again. After a few, Nicholas lost count but he did continue to watch. He didn't actually know whether or not she knew he was there, in the room. And while he usually would care, since he normally doesn't like being around people, the music seemed to make him more calm and laid back.
Once the girl was done dancing, Nic started to softly clap his hands, though it did sound pretty loud because of how the room made the sound travel. Suddenly his mind bounced out of the trance he was in and his face turned a soft red color. 'What am I even doing?' he asked himself as he lightly shook his head, now embarrassed at the thought of watching the other girl dance without asking first.

Ettelyn slowly turned around and faced the boy. "Oh," she said quietly, faking as though she didn't see him. "Hello, who are you?" She asks slowly walking over to her bag and slipping off her pointe shoes. She never looks away from the boy.

Nicholas faced stayed the shade of red as he awkwardly rubbed at the back of his neck when he was acknowledged. "Uh um right, hi" He started with a weird wave towards the girl, "I'm Nicholas but you can call me Nic. May I ask who you are?" He finished with a soft breath. He was surprised he even finished his sentence honestly.

((Oh! No problem at all, you weren't bugging me. Actually, if I continue to not respond for days or even hours, please just comment on the thread. I most likely either read it and thought I responded or exited out of the tab before it posted))

Ettelyn smiled softly. "I'm Ettelyn but most people call me Ettie or Lyn. Your choice," she says taking a small glance back down at her dance bag. After a few minutes she had most of her stuff cleaned up. Besides her phone that resided in the middle of the room.

"Well it's nice to meet you Ettie" Nicholas started with a bashful smile. He paused before quickly saying, "That was really good dancing. You're really good. It was almost as if I was watching a dream." Just after he said this, he quickly dropped his glance to his feet. 'Welp. I probably shouldn't have said that. It not only sounded creepy, but weird too' he thought to himself.

Ettelyn blushed a quiet pink, her cheeks a rosy shade. She smiled, "It is nice to me you as well Nick," she said quietly. Her voice always seemed to be quiet, a whisper even. Only ever heard by listening ears. It was calm and collected, she rarely ever raised her voice. "Thank you," she said looking up at Nick. Ettelyn watched his expressions change. Such an expressive boy," she thought to herself with a small smile.

After a deep breath, Nic raised his head from looking at his shoes and missed the other girl blushing slightly, "You're welcome! You really deserve the praise, even if the compliment I gave was a little weird sounding" He said with a soft laugh, the begining of his sentence more exciting while he ended with a more shy like tone.

((Hey! Sorry again, I really thought I responded to this, though I guess I didn't. But now I did, finally! I'm alright, a bit stressed with school and work and family stuff. How are you?))

Ettelyn smiled and placed the loop of her dance bag around her shoulder and walked towards the middle of the room where her phone was. As she picked up her phone she slipped it into her dance bag and turned and faced Nic. "Thanks," she said at lost for words. Ette was almost never found lost at words but somehow this boy did it.

Nicholas held his breath as Ettelyn walked over to the middle of the room to grab her phone. He didn't think of anything to say until several minutes later, after an long and awkward pause. "So, you're a dancer, obviously. How long have you been dancing?" He asked before running a hand through his hair, a nervous habit.

Ettelyn smiled softly. "Since I could watch actually," the question had startled her because no one had ever asked her before. She tried to change the subject, "What about you? What are you here for?" She asked.

"Oh! That's exciting and pretty cool" He admitted before letting out a soft laugh, not because anything was funny, but just because he lacked the social skills to hold a normally conversation. "Well, I had this issue in my last class and I normally like coming here to practice singing. Since the room itself has such good acoustics. Sorry, I didn't know you would be here, this room is normally empty unless there's a class going on."

"I could say the same thing. I don't think I have ever seen you down here before though. And yes I do have to agree the music just flows in every corner in here," Ettelyn said mumbling. "Well since you came down here to sing and you saw my own small performance I would love to hear you," she said with a shy smile.

Nicholas glanced over at the mirrors on the side of the room, where light was dancing across the shiny surface and than he looked back at Ettelyn, "I mostly come here during my lunch period, there are always way to many people in the cafeteria during lunch" He commented before shaking his had with a sweet smile, "No no I couldn't do that, and take the spotlight away from you" He said with a slightly cocky tone, "But seriously, my voice is no where near ready to sing today."

Ettelyn puts on a fake pout. "Oh but I would enjoy it if you did sing. I think it would make up for you snooping in on me dancing," she said with a smile. "And yes the lunchroom is always so crowded, it might be because everyone is hungry?" she offered a shy smile.

"How about this; I'll sing for you" Nic started, before quickly adding, "But only if you come to the acapella rehearsal, it's today after school. Normally it's a closed meeting but I'll get you a pass" He said with a smile, if she came to the rehearsal he technically wouldn't have to sing alone in front of her. With another smile that mimicked Ettie's and a slightly sarcastic tone, he said, "Oh yeah, maybe I never thought of that one."

Ettelyn smiled, "That sounds like a wonderful idea!" she says with a devious smile. "Ah, well it looks like we need to get your brain up and running again," she says with a laugh, a real one. One she hasn't had in so long. She grabs a pen and paper from her dance bag and writes down her phone number. "Here, just text me the time and where it is and I'd love to come!" she says handing him the paper.

Ettelyn then looks down at her wrist where a watch resides. "Oh crap! I have to go! Just text me!" she says while running out the door to her next class.

Nicholas gave Ettelyn a cheeking smile and two thumbs up, "Great! I'm glad you think so." When the girl in front of him laughed, it was real and he could definitely tell. Plus, it sounded like pure honey and he couldn't help but laugh as well. "Alright! I'll make sure to text you!" He promised as he took the paper from Ettie's hand. "Oh dang, I'll see you later!" Nic called to her as she left the dance room.
After Ettelyn left, Nicholas sat back down on one of the chairs in the room, turning the piece of paper with the girl's number on it. It turned in his hand, once than twice, and than again. He had never actually gotten a girl's number before, though it didn't really count since he was inviting Ettie to come to his rehearsal.
When the final late bell rang from the next class, he just sat there in the chair. Before slowly getting up, grabbing his things and making his way to class.

((I will! Oh also, I'm thinking about claiming the second alpha princess. Would you want the princesses to have any relationship with each other? Like a good one or a bad one? Sorry I'm asking here, I am literally so bad at collabs XD And I'm not really friends with anyone in the Lost World group))

((I posted my alpha princess in the workshop, if you want to see her. She's almost done, all she needs is a few minor personality things and a last name. But I'm waiting for you guys to decide on a last name for the family))
