my tops so far this year - children of time and shades of grey

The last book I read that I absolutely loved was M.A. Carrick's Mask of Mirrors - epic fantasy with intricate worldbuilding and really fun and compelling characters. Also the magic system is delightful. Highly recommend - best fantasy novel I've read in quite a while.

I will second that! I loved Mask of Mirrors, too. I got so lost in the con and everything else, it was fantastic. I can't wait for the next book! I think it's coming in January.
