Hi Everyone,
We have confirmed that our book discussion for Leave The World Behind will take place on Wednesday, November 3 at 6pm on the patio of Municipal Winemakers. It will probably be a little chilly, so wear layers! We are also hoping to use some of their heaters :)

To get into the spirit of the spooky season, we decided to jump into horror books this month. But don't worry if traditional horror is not your thing. Our book selection this month attacks the horror genre from a new angle. Our book of the month is "Leave the World Behind" by Rumaan Alam.
"Rumaan Alam’s third novel, Leave the World Behind, is not a traditional horror story. The monsters are well-meaning but oblivious white people, and the macabre details that flirt at the edge of the story are existential and mostly unknown to the characters. Yet it is the most unsettling novel I’ve read in my recent memory." Read the rest of SBPL Librarian, Molly Wetta's review here: https://www.independent.com/2021/10/0...
The title is available at the Santa Barbara Public Library in physical format, you can also find the audiobook on Hoopla, and in an ebook format on both Hoopla and Libby. Visit independent.com/indybookclub for direct links.
We will also be hosting an in-person discussion for this title on Wednesday, November 3 at 6p.m. Location TBD. The discussions are very informal and lots of fun. We usually spend about half the time discussing the book, and the rest of the time, sharing recommendations with one another. It's a great resource for finding your next read!
I hope you enjoy this month's book and I hope to see you at the discussion!
