Charm was born just before her twin Grace, and more is expected of her. Over the years, she slowly realized this. When she was expected to keep a good standing in school while Grace barely trudged through, when she was to brush her hair and wash every day while Grace barely brushed her hair twice a week, when she had to hone her sewing abilities while Grace practiced throwing daggers.

Lisa and Peter asked both girls to sign up for the Selection, and Charm, in an effort to gain approval, did. Even though Charm is very nearly aromatic, with only one crush in her life, she wants to make her family proud, even if that means trying to win the heart of a prince she's never met.

"Bullseye and bullseye!" Grace cheered. "I'm getting fourteen out of fifteen now!"
I crossed her arms. "Great, my turn Miss High-and-Mighty. Share."
Grace pouted. "Just a few more shots?"
"No. You've had all day to practice."

Grace stuck out her lip.
"Fine." She chucked the bow at me, and I barely caught it with my fingertips. I pursed my lips. Grace dashed over to the tree and yanked an arrow out. When she pulled out the second, the arrow head fell to the ground.
"Aw shoot." I could hear her whisper. Grace bent down, but then she gazed into the woods. I peered in the same direction. Just trees.
"What is it?" I called.
Grace yanked her head back to me. "Um, nothing. I just thought I saw a squirrel. Can I have the bow?"
I walked over and handed it to Grace. The bow was handmade and expensive, but old. The string had frayed twice in the past month. We would need a new one soon. Grace handed me the arrow head.
She cocked an arrow. That was unusual. Usually she would wait until she was in the woods so as not to have to hold the position for too long.
"Stay here." She instructed me.
"Uh, okaaay." I said, now uncertain. Grace never told me to stay out of the woods. I would never go in in this white dress mother had forced me into. I prefer things that don't stain.

Slowly, Grace crept into the woods. She soon disappeared among the trees and shrubs. I waited for the sound of an arrow hitting something solid, but it didn't come. Maybe the squirrel got away.
"Grace?" I called. Silence. Well, maybe she was honing in on the rodent. But still.

I wandered into the woods.
"Grace?" I tried again. Rustling came from a nearby tree. I rolled my eyes. Grace was so easily sidetracked.
"Come down here." I said. "Don't tell me you went up there to fetch the squirrel."
More rustling. And then... a growl. I felt my body go rigid with fear. A wildcat. It was creeping out onto a limb now, it's eyes narrowed, blood dripping from it's mouth. I backed up slowly.

At that moment, Grace came charging into the clearing with the bow slung over her shoulder and a squirrel and arrow in her hand.
"Sorry I didn't answer, I was" The wildcat pounced.
"Grace!" I screamed. The wildcat had dug it's claws into her back and was salivating over her matted hair.
I glared at that cat. "Get. Away." I looked around for a weapon, but there was nothing. All I had was the arrow head. I held it in my finders, knowing full well it would only stall our deaths. I lunged at the wildcat and scraped at it's eyes with the arrowhead. It roared in anger and slashed at me. I lunged away, but was too slow. I felt the claws tear into my skin painfully, could feel the blood rushing out. I was injured, yes. But I was mad. Anger has it's own sort of magic. Grace was sitting up slowly, but I could see her back was stained with blood.

The wildcat was ravaging. It was squinting with bloody eyes, but honed in on me. I reached for the arrow that had been used to kill the squirrel. As the wildcat came lunging at me, I held the arrow steady, aiming for the throat. The wildcat landed on the arrow, and I felt warm blood gush from the creature. It yowled in pain and scratched at the arrow, firmly lodged in it's throat, before scampering into the trees.

Grace and I limped back home that day. The walk wasn't far, but we were exhausted after the ordeal. The both of us were covered in crimson blood. When we stumbled into our house that day, all we heard was screaming. Mama was horrified. Chivalry was sent to get sponges and water.

The doctor visited and we were both soon wrapped up with gauze. Several months later, Grace had the scars of claw marks up and down her back while I gained a long line from a single claw along my arm. From my elbow to my wrist. The kids in school though we were heroes. If fear makes one a hero, then I suppose they were right. (hide spoiler)]

History:

She was abandoned in the woods when she was 4 years old. Some how she managed to survive a few months, before being found by the Southern Rebals. Normally people dont think they are compasionate, but they are human too. They took her in and raised her to be one of the best assassins anyone had ever seen.
At one point she considered leaving the rebals, because she fell in love. But he broke her heart, and turned her into the emotionless person she is today

My mom left me and my father when I was just a newborn. My father raised me the best he could, but he couldnt do everything. when I was about 4 years old, He remarried a young girl, who was in need of a place. So she helped raise me and he gave her a home and food. For a few year- until I was like 10- Life was going great. I was really happy. But then my father took sick and so money was pretty much gone. My new mother became bitter because it was on her to take care of both me and my father. Over the years my father has grown worst, although some how still clinging onto life. My step mother guilt tripped me into putting my name into the selection, even though i was very much against it." Aella lets her eyes fill with tears. 'What are you doing?! You are basicly telling him the truth!!' The thought invades her mind but she pushes it away. Right now she need to focas on getting the prince off her back. Everything was held to a strict schedule; when to wake up, when to eat breakfast, when to start training, when to eat lunch, when to go back to training, when to eat dinner and when to go back to bed. Instructions were different for both Everest and his older brother Axton. Axton was technically Everest's half brother - a mistake made by his mother and a halfwit of a man - but Everest grew up seeing him more of a father figure than his own father ever was. But Axton was constantly leaving, being kicked out for a few days because of some thing he did that broke their fathers' rules. Punishments were severe, ranging from beatings to standing still for hours to being chained outside like a dog without food nor water. Very rarely were either boy left with just a warning. Their mother unfortunately was a pushover, and went along with whatever their father had to say, though she looked on with sad eyes. There had been one night when Axton came home in the middle of the night and woke up Everest from their shared bed. He informed him that he was leaving forever, offering Everest the opportunity to go with him. But Everest was caught when they were both sneaking out, Axton not realizing and running away on his own. Everest had despised his older brother for years because of the several beatings, ridicule and starvation he endured. Over the years though, he grew a tough skin, pleasing his father.

𝙷𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢: Emma grew up in a chaotic house. Her parents used to fight almost all the time and kept abusing her and Ryana (read: Family). The sisters never really lived their childhood as any child should. They never had enough money since their parents spent every bit of it on alcohol and hence, to afford education, both Emma and Ryana had to work throughout the night from a very young age. This led to sleep deprivation as during the day, neither of them could work or sleep in the day due to school. Then came the day when their parents had a huge fight and her dad got drunk and disappeared. Till this day, they have no idea if he's dead or not but in a silent, hidden part of their mind, they really hope he is. After their dad left, their mom started abusing them much more saying that they were the reason he left. This lead to both sisters getting even more depressed. But each of them stayed alive and acted happy for the other. Emma always wanted to know everything about everyone but she never minded Ryana keeping things from her, because she knew that Ryana was probably suffering much more than she was and she really wanted to be there for her. After Emma got an offer to join the selection, she accepted but only did so after making sure that her sister lived away from their mom and kept frequent contact with Emma.

Liana regretted everything and begged her parents to take her back many times, to be met with refusal. When Liana got into the Selection, her parents said they would take her back if she proved to them she was serious about this (if she won, basically). Liana accepted the spot in the Selection, broke up with her boyfriend, and moved back to her parent's house until she could be sent to the palace.
