Honestly, I really liked Mal from the begginig. I think his tracking skills are cool, and his love for Alina is so wonderful. I don't really understand why he gets so much hate. Yes, he was annoying sometimes (mostly during the second book) but all he did was try to figure things out. I think people forget that he was just a teenager who was trying to understand what was happening in the world and how he could protect the girl he loved. Yes, he made some really dumb decisions but they were mostly caused by the fact that he thought that Alina didnt want or need him anymore. He was hurt, and didn't feel like he belonged anymore, but even then he always wanted what was best for Alina. Some people say that he didn't notice her until she was all powerful, but really it was until she wasn't there anymore that he realized what she meant to him. I think everyone has had an experience like that, when you don't realize what you have until you lose it. Also, his tracking skills. I honestly thought they were awesome. I mean, being able to have such a close relationship with nature, and being able to feel everything and always know where to go? I would sure like to have such a beautiful skill. His character development during the last book was so good. He started to accept their situation and the role he had to play, and that helped him become better. So, overall, I really like Mal's character :)(sorry for how long this is)
