The narrator is a girl traveling west with her mother and siblings. To the dismay of their traveling companions, the kids are mischievous. They make it to their destination, and every once in a while they'll all cuddle in their mom's bed and pretend they're on the wagon again. I read it in the 2000s.

None of those either, strange.
Allison, are the illustrations: simple or detailed, realistic or cartoon-like, painted watercolors or bold graphics, color or black-and-white? Do they remind you of a similar illustrator or children's author?
