It's hard to believe, but it's about time to start looking ahead to the 2022 edition of the TBR climbs. I'm getting my challenges prepared for next year and will be setting up the Mount TBR 2022 site soon. And for those who enjoyed (or would like to try) the climb that involves TBR books that you DON'T own, the VIRTUAL Mount TBR Challenge will be back as well. Once I have the Goodreads Groups set up for both of these, I will post the links on this thread so you can find them.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 48 comments Just a heads up, you linked to the new Virtual TBR group from both groups.

I'm not ok with it being time to think about 2022 when I'm still processing 2020, lol!

If you mean from both 2021 groups--that was on purpose. I'll be linking up next year's regular Mount TBR in just a few moments (I'm just putting the finishing touches on it).

Meg (makeli2) | 21 comments I'm ready! I should be a little down about it, since it means I did a lot of book buying again this past year, but somehow buying a ton of books has never brought me down. 🙄🤣

The downside to this group - you have to keep buying books so you can participate next year! That's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

And a very good story it is too!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) Are we doing a Checkpoint #3?

No, I'm afraid I got very busy at work and didn't get one put together for the third quarter. There will be a final check point coming in December.

Truer words were never spoken! 😄

Pamela | 92 comments I'm not quite ready for the next year but definitely will join in again for my 9th year as I still have years-worth of books to get through, audio, print, and eBooks (which I tend to ignore). I'm feeling good about my progress this year, but also got stuck on many new books; so I'll join the Virtual challenge as well next year, to track all the new books I can't seem to stay away from.

Sheila Howes I will be joining both again next year - not sure which mountains I'm going to attempt yet!

Rachel (dgrachel) | 43 comments I'm definitely game for another year, I just have to figure out a reasonable goal. I may start small and readjust as the year goes by if all goes well. Thanks for continuing to host this Bev!!

CinCO | 105 comments Thanks Bev, I'll be joining again. Even though I have more books than I can read in my lifetime, it is nice to make a small dent in them every year!

message 24: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (bookwormonwheelz) | 32 comments Cinco, I'm with you on that one! More than enough books to last a lifetime, but it feels great to make a dent in my TBR pile. Makes me feel like I have accomplished something!

Yes, indeed. It's always nice to shift them off the mountains. I *think* I managed to finally read more this year than I bought...

message 26: by Nell (new)

Nell Signing up again for 2022. Still plenty of mountain ranges to go. Aiming for Mt. Ararat again next year.

I have LOTS of books that I own that I need to read. However, I also have a backlog of ARCs right now. Is it okay to continue on with this Mount TBR or should I do the virtual one to better cover ARCs? I'm not going to meet my goal of Everest this year due to multiple factors (deaths in the family, a week-long trip out of state which was fun but no time for reading, an autoimmune diagnosis and flares that have left me too tired to read, and now... living in Oxford, Michigan where tragedy has struck and it's hard to focus on anything). :(

message 29: by Maslela (new)

Maslela | 41 comments I am impossible. I've read almost 36 from my existing pile now (excluding book club picks and library books) and yet I managed to add double that to my TBR! I can't resist the library book sale where I sometimes find titles on my want-to-read list for 50cents or a dollar. Someone was giving away books due to moving across country so I went and hauled boxes (donated some, sent some to troops, and picked some good titles for myself). Working from home since covid has definitely helped me increase my reading time which means I'm reading beyond my annual Goodreads' goal too. I'm really looking forward to the 2022 challenge! Thank you so much for hosting, Bev!!

message 30: by Steven (new)

Steven (wyldemusick) | 153 comments This was, I think, my tenth Mount TBR (the first of them was logged on my LiveJournal at the time) and I’ve been wondering if it might be my last. Likely not, though, despite the struggle some days to keep going — I rather confused myself be being distracted onto the virtual track.

What I think I will do is start lower down this time and build up as needed. That might encourage me to go for the top.

message 31: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (bookwormonwheelz) | 32 comments Steven, I think I'm going to do the same. I set my goal for 24 books, but then I found out that I was pregnant, and then my baby was born in September. So, I was a bit distracted too... lol. I also have a toddler running around.☺☺☺

Bethea: ARCs that you have prior to January 1 can count towards next year's Mount TBR.
