What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this around 2010-2013 - I just remember I was in high school.
From what I faintly remember this book was about a group of young people who enlisted in the fight to help fight vampires - and there is one person who is chosen to take something (elixir?) to have qualities like a vampire (fast, strong, etc)

Love interest is a vampire from Spain if I remember correctly?
