Kim was brave to follow her instincts. She knew Woody would be angry with her. She sensed that Alison wasn't responding the way she wanted. Kim getting in Alison's face made her decide if she wants to use her skills or kick them aside and do nothing. Kim tells her if she made a mistake that is one thing but following when she knows it is wrong is something else.
I was conflicted on this one. I felt bad for Alison because she has already been through the ringer as a result of one of their earlier cases. However, I do think that Kim did the right thing by going with her own instincts.
That was a courageous move on Kim’s part because she flagrantly disobeyed an order. But, she knows the psychology of killers, which is why she went to someone she trusted. I believe the only reason she beat up on Alison was to make her wake up. It worked.
