Evangeline walks to the training grounds. She wore a plain training suit that was completely black with silver lines down the left and right side. Her long silver hair was in a high ponytail and she held a katana. She looked around the training grounds with a smile.
Ruby was training, she was punching a bag as she was waiting for Eva. She was trying the technique her father taught her when she was younger.
Eva watches her calculating. She pulls her sword from its sheath and started dueling with a wooden manikin, her sword left deep cuts in the light wood.
Ruby heard Eva come in, she turned her head as she stopped the bag from hitting her. Ruby waved as she made her way over to her.
Ruby stopped infront of her and smiled, "Hey Eva" she said to her. She looked at the various weapons that were mounted on the wall.
“whats your favorite weapon to use?” She asks her. She also turns looking at the many weapons to choose from. There were large heavy looking broad swords, and thine sharp sabers. There were bows, crossbows, rifles, daggers and multiple other weapons to train with.
"Daggers" she says as she got one from her boot. Ruby threw it to a target and it landed on a the center
Eva nods “Daggers are useful I used to prefer them over my Katana,” she says. She had trained in many weapons but after a long while she preferred her Katana for its reach, light weight, and razor sharp blade.
Ruby nods, "makes sense, it is lightweight" she says to Eva as she started stabbing the dummy in the chest.
Eva nods. She takes out her sword again and starts practicing footwork as if she was facing off with an invisible enemy.
Ruby was still stabbing the dummy, she was taking all her anger out on that one dummy. She just wanted to be loved but, her parents always said to be the princess they wanted her to be.
Evangeline watches Ruby. It seemed like the girl had a personal grudge against that one dummy, “Did that Dummy kill your dog or something?” Eva says, she was only half joking. She knew what it was like to have to hide your feelings a pretend that you were fine and that nothing ever got to you, and that the only way you could get your feelings out were training, or fighting. That was the only way Eva was able to get her feelings out.
Ruby stopped, "What?", she asked her. Ruby was confused as to why she was talking to her when she had a dagger in her hand. She was constantly stabbing over and over in the same spot. She accidentally sliced the top of her wrist when she stabbed the dummy.
Eva cocked her head glancing down at the other girls hand “You need to be more careful you cut yourself,” she says. “Its good to use your emotions as a booster when fighting, but if you loose control you can end up hurting yourself,” Eva says, she walks over to a shelf and pulls a wrap of bandages from a box and walks back and hands them to Ruby.
Ruby grabs them and wraps them around her wrist. "Thanks, Eva," she says as the blood was soaked up by the bandages. Ruby did have past scars on that same wrist but she never told anyone why they were there.
Eva noticed the scars but decided not to say anything. “Would you like to spar?” She asks her growing board of facing off with a fake opponent.
Ruby nodded, "Sure, why not?", she says as she turned to her. She walked to her and went into a fighting stance. "Let's do this"
Eva went into a fighting stance. Eva switched footing and aimed a fast kick at Ruby’s side before ducking back into anything fighting stance. She wanted to see how Rudy would fight and how she would react ((Ight so ima say it like that but you can decide if it hits or misses.))
Ruby reacted by dodging the fast kick that Eva made. She went back to her own fighting stance. She was used to a different style of fighting, well more advanced fighting than what Eva was doing.
Eva waited for Ruby to come at her. She knew the girl was a good fighter, but so was Evangeline. She had a feeling she could take the girl without to much of a problem.
Ruby came at her with a double take with her daggers. She took a move her father figure taught her, she kicked and did a swing at the same time. When she took the swing she groaning from the pain that was in her wrist
Eva dodges her first attack easily, but Ruby’s dagger slashed across Eva’s cheek leaving a small slack. Eva didnt even flinch, she was used to pain. She leapt forward, she dropped low kicking at the other girls legs. Then she spun around Ruby, pulled a small leaf shaped dagger from her belt and stabbed towards her side, managing to not leave herself too open for an attack.
Ruby was too slow when Eva attacked her side, Evas leaf daggers sliced her stomach, there was blood trickling down but she didn't mind the blood dripping. She looked at the blood and back at Eva. "Nice hit Eva"
Eva grins “Thanks, you did good two,” she says not letting her guard down. She spun aiming a kick at her head, but made the mistake of leaving her other leg open, she realized this to soon and couldn’t go back, she grimaced.
Ruby smirked and swept her leg, "Sorry, Eva" she says as she went to grab more bandages for her stomach. She went back to Eva, Ruby didn't really have anything else to do. she just wants to sit down for a minute. "Are you okay, you hit the ground pretty hard?"
Eva rolled landing in a crouch. She relaxes when Ruby went to get the bandages. She rubbed her side with a grimace, she takes a deep breath trying to get her breath back. “I’m fine hows your side,” she says smirking back.
Ruby shrugged, "It could be better," she said as she replaced the bandages that were on her wrist. ((Busy))
Eva sat down, she rubbed her side her ribs were probably bruised, she didnt mind. She laughs at that and wipes the blood from her dagger.
Ruby was inhaling as she winced. The pain was unbearable, she just held her side and looked down at the pool of blood she was making. "I need a ice pack I think"
Eva looks at her “You may need to go see a docter,” she says, she had tried to hold back when she stabbed but instinct had taken over.
Ruby looked at it and shrugged, "I don't mind, really..." she says as she sighs. Ruby started to get dizzy, "Maybe...I do" she says slowly and softly. She was groaning from the pain.
Eva stood up gracefully and walked over to her. “Ok thats it we need to go to the infirmary, the palace does have an infirmary right?” She asks an eyebrow raised. She looked at Ruby carefully and was ready i case she collapsed
((yeah))Ruby saw that Eva was about to collapse also. "I think...we should wait until you recover, just for a minute. Then, we could find the infirmary..." Ruby says as she was taking a deep breath that was hurting her abdomen.
Callan made his way over after watching for a while, dismissing his knights to switch to free training. He walked over to the two and looked over at them. "Duchess Winchester, Lady Eva." he said as he greeted them. "Do you need assistance?" He asked. He wanted to scold them for training with real weapons instead of wooden ones, however, that would have to wait. Both of them seemed injured. "One of the knights and I can help you to the medical ward if you wish." He said. While Ruby seemed to have some misconception that his status was that of a knight commander, Callan was still a prince. Meaning, if someone got injured in the palace and in his jurisdiction, he would have to help them by obligation and to avoid slander. Personally, he only knew who Ruby was because she was his aunt, even if they had never met. And, eva from the selected files. After all, he was in charge of handling all of the security and such as well as assigning knights to the selected, so of course he had to look at the files of those who had entered.
((I thought he and Ruby were gonna date??))Ruby looked at him, she rolled her eyes. She nodded to Eva, "Take her to the Medical Ward. I am fine, okay?" she says as she grabs her bag and there were a lot of medic supplies. "I'm fine, I'm good," she said to him as she began wrapping the wound herself.
(( I never spoke about Callan's relationship, since after this selection, he'll be having one of his own.
All I did was have Callan address her about the escort situation and tell her that he was the knight commander and third prince when he came to greet the selected.
Evangeline stiffened slightly when the prince approached them, she bowed to the prince “Your Highness,” she says her tone was even. Eva raised an eyebrow at Ruby “I’m fine I’ve had worse,” she says with a shrug, it was true her brothers had never gone easy on her but that was partly what had helped her become such a good fighter. “Your the one bleeding not me, all I have is slightly bruised ribs,” she says with a slight smirk.
((It's okay))Ruby shrugged, "Nothing, my commander hadn't taught me to handle" she says to her as she finished wrapping the gauze around her stomach tight enough to stop the bleeding. She started cleaning up everything that she made a mess.
He looked at the two before sighing. "You should both still see one of the royal doctors and get it checked." He said. "With the selection going on, it'd be bad if news got out that we let both a duchess and Lady of the selected go about their days injured without even giving them a proper check-up." He said. "Even if you are fine since you are currently in the palace, it's our responsibility to take care of you." He said. Honestly, he was just going through the motions. He didn't really care too much, but he wanted deniability. At least he tried to insist, right? "Please, Your Grace, Lady Evangeline." He said. He didn't need her to tell him her name. He knew it. He needed to know about the selected if he was in charge of security. Even if Ruby was a duchess and Evangeline might be the future crown princess, at the moment, he was still of higher status. It was weird that he was being so formal with them. But of course, that was likely due to the fact he was just a bastard child. The knights in the training grounds were whispering amongst each other as they spoke. He glanced toward them coldly. Those who made eye contact became stiff. One of the senior knights also stiffened up. "Alright, back to training! The break is over. Do not disturb the prince and his guests." He said, taking charge of Callan. Even if he didn't say anything, everyone already knew what to do. They picked up their wooden swords and continued their training. He let out a small sigh before looking back at the girls. Despite him doing things he wouldn't normally do, he didn't actually seem too concerned for either of the girls. At least he didn't glare at them or was overly rude. Then again, considering his status, he needed to do at least this much. Even so, for a sixteen-year-old, he was surprisingly rather authoritative when it came to his knights and a bit strict. Most teens were pretty laid back. While he didn't seem tense and was a bit aloof, he was still a bit... uptight?
Evangeline hated the idea of being bossed around by someone younger than her, was it petty and immature? Yes, but she knew he was of much higher stature than her and she knew better than to pick a fight with royals. But even though she knew better than to talk back, her eyes narrowed very very slightly, but she took control of her features and looked down and nodded as was custom when around a Royal “Avery well your highness,” she says cooly. She didn’t need a docter she was fine her bruises were small they oiled heal but she would do as she was told.
