Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune

When a reaper comes to collect Wallace Price from his own funeral, Wallace suspects he really might be dead.

Instead of leading him directly to the afterlife, the reaper takes him to a small village. On the outskirts, off the path through the woods, tucked between mountains, is a particular tea shop, run by a man named Hugo. Hugo is the tea shop's owner to locals and the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.

But Wallace isn't ready to abandon the life he barely lived. With Hugo's help he finally starts to learn about all the things he missed in life.

When the Manager, a curious and powerful being, arrives at the tea shop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days...https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Nandor Fodor - a Jewish-Hungarian refugee and chief ghost hunter for the International Institute for Psychical Research - reads of the case, and hastens to the scene of the haunting. I chose books in honor of Halloween. It was very difficult. If the cover or title sounded scary, I couldn't do it. I am that big of a chicken!

After adding The Haunting of Alma Fielding I immediately bought it from Amazon. I can't put it down. I thought it was more like a ghost story, spooky novel from the point of view of Alma. It's Nandor Fodor that is the "main character" and told from his professional views. It's still captivating and I am not disappointed. There are other references of "hauntings". I googled them and found them to be backing up the book or vise versa. Now I am looking to get Gef The Talking Mongoose: The "Eighth Wonder of the World" by Tim Swartz!!!
