For Bookclubs I am reading The Painted Girls by Canadian Cathy Buchanan and really being swept away by it. I suspect I will want to read her other books as well!
For book club #2 we are reading A Gentleman in Moscow. I am listening to this on audio but I think this is one of those that I need to also read the hard copy.

For pleasure reading I have just started The One Hundred Years of Lennie and Margot. Has anyone else read this one? I am feeling a little at odds this far.

I just finished Jane Harper’s The Survivors And was pleasantly surprised-this was my first Harper novel and not being much of a mystery reader I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I also thought more members of the club would like it, being big mystery readers-but the majority did not. The writing was beautiful

I also loved A Gentleman in Moscow and really enjoyed The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot. Like you, I wasn't sure at first, but it won me over before long.

This week I finished Dracula. It was my first time reading it and I thought it was very good. Some of the male treatment toward the ladies was a little cringeworthy (I'm talking about our brave heroes here, not Dracula), but I learned to accept and ignore it as the book went on.

I am now reading Sparks Like Stars for book club and quite enjoying it so far.

This week I finished Intimacies, which I really enjoyed. I also read a graphic novel that is nominated for a GG Award (in the translation category), Paul at Home. I liked it.

I'm currently reading and loving Harlem Shuffle. I've also started My Monticello, a collection of stories plus a novella.

it has been a slow reading week for me... I finished The Choice: Embrace the Possible which one of my team recommended to me. it is a story of resilience and choices told by a woman who survived concentration and work camps during WW2 and how her choices have impacted her life and helped her to help others.

I also finished The Woman Outside My Door for book club (admittedly late so I ended up knowing the end) and it was an ok read... thrillers are really not my genre but it had an unexpected twist at the end,

Now I am reading:

When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress
The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life
Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating
and need to pick a Giller book which along with the first 2 it this list will finish off my BINGO

@EM - The painted girls was a One Book One Brant novel a few years ago and the author came to the library event. I have not read her other books.. yet

Hi to everyone- Lots of good books being read by the sounds of it!

I have started Gather: Richard Van Camp on the Joy of Storytelling, his latest book. The cover is beautiful with Northern Lights!! He is going to be joining our library next week for a Zoom author presentation so looking forward to this.

I finished a non Canadian read last week, Hour of the Witch, enjoyed this historical fiction which takes place in the 1600's era.

I am savoring Our Homesick Songs, this is a treat and I received it as gift from my Secret Sender so makes it extra special!

I went second hand book shopping today and picked up a few books I did not need. One is Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda. This is a book I had read part way through many years ago. It is such a difficult book to read but yet so important to learn from. I have read Roméo DallaireWaiting for First Light: My Ongoing Battle with PTSD, so impactful. With Remembrance Day on the horizon, I will honor his service by starting this book. I also picked up Watership Down, which I have never read... I understand this is a classic to many. Enjoy that extra hour of reading we are getting this weekend :)
