Despite Lucy’s family’s reaction, her resolve to continue working with Max on the investigation is unshakeable, including when her brother Dillon pushes back on her. Were you surprised at his opposition? Was he more worried about Lucy or the others? What kept Lucy so determined?

Lucy believes in justice. There is no way that she was going to back down. I don't think Dillon was against Lucy. He didn't have the same reaction as the family at the dinner table. In fact, he explained the families' reaction by saying "Not everyone has the same skills we have."

Dillon was worried about the fallout and its impact on Lucy and especially Nelia. He is afraid that it will set Neiia back with her recovery.

I don't think Dillon was against Lucy either. He wanted to keep the impact on Nelia at a minimum, if that were possible. He understood having lived through it as a young adult just how devastating the murder was to the family and that, for the most part, Lucy was shielded from it. Lucy wanted closure, not just for her family, but for the other families as well. Justin's death affected Lucy in ways no one understood and now that she has a chance to finally solve the case, no one could stand in her way.

I was a bit surprised by Dillon until I realized his knowledge of what happened was filtered by his siblings. Once he talked with Lucy directly, he was on board but felt the need to reach out to Nelia on his own.

I agree with you both. Lucy was unencumbered by what happened at the time of Justin’s death and the opportunity to find his killer was not something she’d let go under no circumstances. It’s who she is.

I did have to remember Lucy's relative age to her siblings, not to mention her parents.

I was, but wasn't, surprised by Dillon's reaction. Justin's murder effected him as well. Even with his training I can see his thought process with is being a family member and all. I think Dillon was thinking about everyone. Lucy was so determined because Justin was her best friend and because she wants to see justice done.
I felt like no one in the family understood how much his death effected her because they had shielded her so much.
