Slowly but surely as Max and Lucy got closer to the answers, Max acquiesced her control of the investigation to Lucy. As this is polar opposite to her nature, why did she so willingly step back? How did Lucy do in taking care of Max and her interests?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Max recognized Lucy's skills as an investigator, and her ability to step into the head of the killer. Max got her answers quicker with Lucy's help. Lucy did an excellent job working with Max's goals in mind, while getting her answers.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Max saw in Lucy the same drive and tenacity that she had. She also realized that this was intensely personal for Lucy. Lucy made sure that Max got the story she needed and they both ended up deeply respecting each other.

I agree with you both.

Max saw that even though Lucy didn’t lay claim to being one, she was a profiler. And, she witnessed Lucy getting into the skin of the killer. She’d already come to trust her instincts, values and judgment. Now she recognized that Lucy wouldn’t undermine her. She no longer needed to be in control.

This was another major moment for Max.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I think she stepped back because she trusted Lucy and had already seen what Lucy can do. She knew that Lucy had more authority and assets. Lucy continuously thought of Max and what she wanted/needed.
