For the About task, can I use a book that is the first of two currently but has a third book coming out in 2023?
Or would that not count as a series right now?

We haven't historically counted duologies as series in this group, and we don't count books as part of a series until they are published, so that would kibosh your choice.

Ah, well thanks for the clarification. :)

Janice (jamasc) | 60497 comments Sorry, Rachel. My problem with this task is going to be which 1st in series will be picked. I own so many of them. Argh!

Ahahaha I get what you mean. But honestly, I’m more anxious about actually finishing the series. I always start them, never finish, and then end up hating myself for it. xD

Cherie (crobins0) | 21509 comments Rachel,

I currently have 603 books listed on my shelf "1st-in-series-to-read" if you want/need something to choose from. :o)
Here is the link.

Too funny, Dawn. ;o) I just added another one to the list.
I found it for one of my side trip tasks when I was looking for a location. What's another series on my list? I also added the 25th book of the same series, because it had the word that I was looking for in the title. Interesting coincidence anyway. I could have chosen the 2nd book in the series for the third task, but I own another that fits.

Annerlee | 2881 comments As a suggestion, I just started reading Crazy as Chocolate for my souvenir. I picked it up at a charity shop for pennies so I could read something in the (unexpected) spring sunshine. Am pleasantly surprised so far.

Odette (odman) | 997 comments Does this book meet the criteria for 1st in series:
The Torrent by Dinuka McKenzie (Detective Kate Miles #1)
It is the first book in a series, only published this year, but so far no other books.

message 13: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60497 comments When we did the annual challenge based on series, we didn't count them unless there were 3 published books. I think we'll use that as a guideline since its already been established in the group.

message 14: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments Thanks, Janice. Thought it may be the case, but Idid not know about the 3 published books being a guideline,

message 15: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3039 comments Hey Janice, for the souvenir task - Vanilla, Strawberry, or Chocolate in the title, might you accept Chocolat, or would it have to be spelled with the e at the end?

message 16: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60497 comments I'll accept it since it's a direct translation of chocolate in French and we allow that.

message 17: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3039 comments Excellent, thank you Janice :) It will be good to finally be getting around to this one.
