The 40 Most Mysterious Places in the Whole Entire World | Slideshow | The Active Times

There is no water that reflects the trees, it is simply how the forest works. It mirrors real life and you can see it and walk on it and everything. It can be messed with though. The monster that lives there is invisible and you cant see them unless you come across water, which you won't. Good Luck and may the odds be ever in your favour.

Hio Kenna came here, holding the scissors like a weapon. She looked around nervously, before climbing a tree and hiding.

Acacia ran into the mirror forest, backpack on, red hair tied up and away from her face. She held her sword out in one hand. She was relieved when she saw the reflecting surface. It had to be water.
She walked over and knelt, her water bottle in one hand, but she gasped when he bottle hit the ground. There was no water. It was a trick.
Slightly panicked, she placed the bottle away and sighed before standing up and looking around. She needed to find water.

message 4: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna spotted a girl struggling to get water. Tentatively, she climbed down the tree, scissors still held in front of her defensively. "Hello?" She asked.

Acacia turned, sword out immediately, but she relaxed only a little when she saw it was the twelve year old. The girl from training, one of the youngest this year. She took a breath; somehow the girl just had the scissors, and her heart went out to her. That wasn’t going to end well.
“Yeah, hi?” Acacia replied, making her voice slightly gruff. Even so, she didn’t want underestimate the kid, though she’d never kill a child that age unless her life was being threatened.

Jacob ran here. "Woah." he said, noticing the ground and the other girls.

Acacia turned, swinging her sword towards him instead, and then added,
“Yeah. Weird ground.” She kept both eyes on both other tributes, though.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Jacob raised his arms, "Please don't hurt me, I'm literally unarmed." he said.

Acacia tilted her head up. “Jacob Stevens, District 6. 17. You were pretty good with a sword too but I won’t let you have this. And I have no intention of hurting anyone unless they attack me. So your choices are leaving, or we make an alliance with this girl here, Kenna.” Shw had memorized names. It gave her a confidence boost. “And if you do attack me, I’ll kill you,” she added steadily even though she didn’t want to.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Jacob nodded slowly. "Uh-huh...Ok, well I'll think about it, who is she?" he asked, nodding toward Kenna.

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
“You get one minute, kid,” Acacia told him coldly, channeling her father. “And that is Kenna. District 10. 12 years old. She’s too young, and I’ll only kill her if she attacks me and it’s necessary.”

message 12: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna shook from fear. "Thank you," she whispered, walking to Acacia's side.

message 13: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna looked Jacob up and down.

Acacia stepped closer to Kenna as well, but she kept a tight grip on her sword as she aimed it at Jacob. "Thirty seconds now."

((should Acacia and Kenna team up as allies? I'm cool with it if you are))

message 15: by Hio (new)

Hio (Yeah, sure!)
Kenna felt a little better now that she had a strong-seeming ally on her side. Maybe even two, depending on whether Jacob joined them or not.

message 16: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
((okay!))

Acacia sighed as she waited for Jacob, tilting her head.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Jacob glared and left.

message 18: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna exhaled. "That was a close one. Or maybe it wasn't. I don't know. I'm not good at reading situations like these." She looked up at the fellow redhead.

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
"It...I don't know. He can use this sword too but I don't know how long he's been at it. My grandmother won the Game since, and so my mom me to use a sword, or...a stick, then I used training to work with the sword. I would definitely try and kill him if he'd attacked."

message 20: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna nodded unsurely. "Wow. I-I've not really practiced with weapons. I just planned on hiding. Everyone's gonna see me as an easy target, which I am, so-" she stopped her ramble midsentence. "Sorry. I talk a lot when I'm nervous."

message 21: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
She hesitated, and then sheathed the sword into the straps of the backpack. "Look, I..." Acacia placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed once. This is wrong. "You shouldn't even be here," she muttered with a hint of anger in her voice. "You're too young." Kenna reminded Acacia of her two brothers in a way. "I'll protect you, okay? As much as I can. I'm trying to find water at the moment, once I do we can share that bottle. It's fine. Talking doesn't bother me, just....let's try not to shout. We don't know where everyone else is, and I think only two died so far."

message 22: by Hio (new)

Hio Kenna said, "Thank you. Really. And the chance of being reaped starts at 11, so..." she shrugged. "Really, none of us should be here." She paused. "I don't think there's water here; just illusions. Should we look somewhere else?"

message 23: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
"You're welcome. And yeah. It does, it's just...messed up," she mumbled. "And I agree. The whole thing is sick." Acacia tucked some flyaway hairs behind her ear. "Probably."

message 24: by Hio (new)

Hio "So... where should we go? Probably somewhere that's mostly unoccupied." Kenna looked to Acacia for guidance.

message 25: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
Acacia hesitated. "I'm not sure. This place is new to me, too. Maybe we could wander and see."

message 26: by Hio (last edited Nov 15, 2021 12:47PM) (new)

Hio "Okay. I heard there was a cave or something. That sounds... easy to defend. There probably isn't any water there, though. Should we go to the Cornucopia and scavenge whatever's left?"

message 27: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
"That sounds good. We can grab what we can from there and then find either a cave or a river."

message 28: by Hio (new)

Hio "Yeah, sure," Kenna said. She started walking, but stopped and said, "Wait. What supplies do you already have?"

message 29: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
"Oh, right. Sword, rope, flashlight, dried fruit, empty water bottle, and a water purifier. Hence the need for water...and we could use something warm too."

message 30: by Hio (new)

Hio "Oh. Nice. All I have is some kids' scissors. Sorry."

message 31: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
"It's fine. Hold onto them though, they may be useful. Come on."

message 32: by Hio (new)

Hio "Okay, let's go." (Will be on and off because I'm at school, sorry :()

((it's ok! I have class soon too))

((I'll move them to the cornucopia))

As the fog chased them, Charlotte and Hazelle made their way here, almost out of energy but adrenaline spiking through Charlotte, at least. She was frantic and desperate, the fog having left what felt like a cool coat of wet slime across her skin. She couldn't stop shivering as she made for the trees, still holding Hazelle's hand tightly in hers and the spear in her other hand, her backpack thudding along her back. Only when they reached the trees did she stop.

Hazelle was completely out of breath, she had never run so much in her life. A weird slime cover her, from head to toe and it was slathered onto her cut. Once they got to the trees, they both came to a stop as the anthem played and faces as well as district numbers where shown in the sky. Hazelle let out a soft gasp, "Oh my.." Nine tributes where dead out of the original twenty-four. She put the hand that wasn't in Charlotte's hand over her mouth and began to whisper prayers, even though she didn't kill all of the tributes in the sky. "Please, heaven and goddess of the stars, let these wonderful and unfortunate people into your gates. Let them become stars in your skies and let them shine. Please let them be remembered and never forgotten. I will never forget them as long as I live" Hazelle muttered this under her breath as she moved the hand over her mouth to put three fingers to her mouth instead. Tears crawled down her cheeks as she looked over at Charlotte, "Are you okay? Did you get hurt at all?" She asked with concern.

Charlotte had dropped her spear and now bent over with one hand on her knee, breathing hard, cheeks flushed, throat stinging. Everything in her felt the need to both drink water and dump her whole body in the water. But she still clung tightly to Hazelle's hand. When her friend started praying, Charlotte glanced up at her, using her shaking free hand to push aside some of her hair in order to see Hazelle better. She swallowed through her dry, sticky throat and almost started crying with the sweet, genuine words Hazelle spoke, and she stood up a few seconds later and placed a hand on Hazelle's shoulder just in time to see her do the three finger salute. And then, not caring what happened, Charlotte released her shoulder and repeated the gesture, then brought it to the sky, before looking at Hazelle. "I-I don't know," she whispered. "J-just shaken up and gross. You?"

message 39: by mel (new)

Hazelle smiled slightly when Charlotte did the salute that she usually did with her prayers when she had the time. She slid to the ground next to the other girl and let out a tired sigh, "It's alright though, we're fine now. And as safe as we could be" She didn't really want to concern her friend with her own feelings, so she just shrugged, "I'm alright, I want a bath though" She said with a small laugh. To get her bag, she had to shift around to take weight off of her leg, but she ended up doing that and taking her backpack and bow plus quiver off of her back. "Now, we obviously need water. Do you have a water bottle or something to put water in? If you don't I could probably try and make something out of leaves or bark."

"I don't know about safe," she mumbled as she took a shaking breath and then frowned. "Your leg," she pointed out in a quiet voice, nodding at it. "What happened?" She pulled her backpack off her shoulders, unsure why Hazelle was laughing and not finding much funny about the situation. Water, yes, yes that was definitely something they needed. "Um, let me check," she responded, and opened the backpack, rummaging through the contents. "N-no." Her voice shook. "I-I have a knife, beef jerky, and a flashlight and a thin blanket. Nothing for water." She felt her heart sink.

When Charlotte pointed out her leg, Hazelle just waved it off, "I probably just cut it on a rock or something, I'm fine" Or at least she hoped she would be fine. Even if the wound wasn't made by a knife, she could still get blood poisoning if she wasn't careful.
Hazelle moved and glanced at the other girl, "Okay, that's alright" She started, panicking slightly though she tried to use a calmer tone, "I'll try and use my hands to cup some water up. If it doesn't word, maybe bark from the trees or the leaves will work" And with that, she got up onto her feet, with struggle, and walked over to what she thought was water. Hazelle carefully bent down and went to cup some water into her hands, but her hands stayed dry. "Dang it!" She exclaimed out loud as she stood up and walked back to Charlotte, "It's fake. It's all fake!" After several moments, she calmed down, "Maybe it's a good time to ask for gifts from sponsers?" She asked with a sigh.

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
“Well if we can find a way to treat it, we should,” she protested as she eyed the wound on Hazelle’s leg. She bit her lip, not liking how the other girl just kind of brushed the situation off.
“Yeah, I’m sorry. And okay…I can help too,” she added and began to stand up, but she also wanted to make sure she was nearby in case Hazelle collapsed; she had struggled a bit standing, it seemed, Charlotte then followed her but felt some of her hope vanish and panic rose when she saw that there was no water. “No,” she whispered, and immediately imagined dying in the arena with shriveled lips and a shriveled tongue and—a shiver wracked her body and she inhaled sharply and then let her breath out with a nod. “Maybe…no, definitely,” she agreed. “How does this work?” She tilted head back to the sky. “Uh…hi, don’t know if anyone can hear us, but we really need water? May we please have some?” She questioned as politely as she could just in case anyone charitable was listening and watching. Though with the way the president hated Hazelle’s family, she didn’t know if they’d get anything.

message 46: by mel (new)

mel (melthemuse)

"I know but still, I'm alright for now, we shouldn't waste any supplies on such a small thing" Hazelle said, trying to dismiss the matter for the time being.
When she found that the water was fake, she almost wanted to lay down and die just like that. What was the point? Her mind muttered. But Hazelle decided to stay stong for the other girl. "It's okay, maybe the trees have water? Can I have that knife of yours?" She asked since she knew that asking for sponsers was probably a lost cause because of what she said in the past and in current time.

message 47: by elizabeth (new)

elizabeth (rebelkitten12) | 854 comments Mod
Charlotte frowned. “What?!” She protested. “Waste of supplies? No, I don’t think that’s a waste. You know injuries can become infected,” she pokinged out. “And in here that’s the last thing we want when it comes to wounds. Or one of them anyway.”
With a nod, Charlotte handed her the knife. “How do you plan to get water from the tree with a knife?” She asked, browns furrowed. “Wouldn’t we need a spout or something?” But she wanted to try and trust Hazelle in this. She wanted to stick with her and they both needed water after that fog.
