Pasithea closed her eyes, brushing the dust off of her lab coat. She had just returned from a walk in the main square and managed to purchase some rare materials to use for a new experiment. Placing the bag of goods down on her desk, she ran a hand through her long, green hair.
"Arshi? Are you here? I was wondering if you could help me with some experiments~" she called out. Looking around, she realized that the room was pitch black. Flicking on a light switch, she sighed in relief. She was the only one who had access too such a luxury, and was thankful. Years of work and failure resulted in such a beautiful creation. She reached under her desk for a Bunsen burner and turned it on, rolling up her sleeves and slipping on a pair of black gloves.

Arshi peeked out from underneath Pasithea's bed. She had heard someone enter and wasn't sure if it was someone trying to take her away or not, so she hid.
"Oh, Pasithea, it's just you," she said, smiling up at the godly woman. "I'll gladly help!" She crawled out and stood, though leaned more on her right leg as the left had been used for some experimentation a few days ago. "What'd you get? You took a bit longer than usual so I was getting a little anxious."

Pasithea smiled when she heard Arshi's voice. "I purchased some items to experiment with. Let's see, there's chloroform, sodium hydroxide, formaldehyde, stuff like that. The lady said that it was dangerous, but that just makes it all the more fun to play around with, doesn't it?~" Pasithea said, pulling out the bottles as she said their names.
"I have something I'd like to tell you, if that's okay." Pasithea said, sitting down on a nearby chair. "I haven't just been experimenting for fun. I've been preparing in the case of a war. A few days ago, I met with the princess of the bat kingdom, y'know, the satanic one? Anyways, she told me that she had a vision of war arising, the alliance falling apart. Could just be her losing her mind, but I'd rather be safe than sorry." she said, looking out a window. Suddenly, Pasithea grabbed a knife and sliced her arm open. Grabbing a suction pump, she filled it with her blood and set it on the table. "I'm just being paranoid. Come here, I'll need some of your blood. You're AB positive right?" Pasithea asked, cleaning off the knife she used and preparing to slice Arshi's arm.

Arshi didn't really know what those names were, but they were long and scary and she felt a chill run down her spine. She tried to smile, showing too much teeth and her eyes being too wide. "Yes, it's always fun."
When Pasithea went to sit down, she looked around and couldn't find another chair. She sat on the bed instead. As Pasithea continued talking her eyes widened more and more until she finally had to blink. She'd heard Pasithea making fun of the "satanic princess" a few times, so it wasn't any new knowledge. Arshi never knew much about the political relationship between the kingdoms, but knew that the alliance had been very beneficial and prevented war. She clasped her hands together anxiously. When her beloved sliced her arm, she let out a small cry. "Pasithea!" she said, immediately jumping up. She didn't know what was happening and felt something rising up her throat. This wasn't good.
"I-I don't know my blood type . . ," Arshi trailed off, immediately bringing forth her arm. When the princess had first taken her in this would have been something she would be wary of, but now she was used to it. Besides, she'd done far worse for the sake of Pasithea. "Pasithea, why are we doing this?" she tentatively asked. The metallic scent rose to her nostrils and she breathed it in, wanting to remember what this beautiful Snake's blood smelled like.

Pasithea let out a small sigh, then placed her unharmed hand on Arshi's cheek, trying to calm her. "There's no need to worry, darling~. I just need to run a few tests. I'm trying to modify blood type so that in battle, if someone is wounded, a medical professional can preform a blood transfusion without having to worry about blood type." Pasithea said, pouring her blood into a vial. Without looking away from her workstation for a single moment, she continued talking. "O negative is the universal donor, so I'm trying to figure that out. I know I'm O positive, and after a few tests, we'll know your blood type too." Turning around, she dabbed Arshi's arm with a wet cloth to clean it and looked up at her. "I'm going to cut it open now, stay still." she said, her voice soft and calming. She quickly slid the tip of the knife against Arshi's soft skin before grabbing a suction pump. After taking the blood, she wrapped a bandage around Arshi's arm. "Thank you, dear." she said, a look of sympathy in her eyes. If Pasithea could take all the pain out of Arshi and place it upon herself, she wouldn't hesitate. Pain is something Pasithea has endured for a long time, way before Arshi became involved in her tests. Pasithea split Arshi's blood into two vials and began to pour certain blood samples into it. She began humming a tune that somewhat resembled pop goes the weasel as she wroe something down on a piece of paper.

Arshi breathed a small sigh of relief, but still didn't want to think about the horrible war.
Her eyes began to water. "I've wasted more of your time. I'm so sorry. Now you have to find out what my blood type is just because I'm too stupid to already know that," she said, fighting back the tears threatening to fall. To Arshi, Pasithea was her world. Was there anything without her? She already knew the answer, and that was no. If she lost Pasithea, she'd probably kill herself.
She stood perfectly still, having done stuff like this many times. Her skin cut like butter and she marveled at the red bubbling out of her skin. She felt the pain, but chose to welcome it instead of fighting it back. Things would be easier this way. She repeated how much she liked it in her head, even as the rest of herself became woozy and she had to fight to not collapse on the soft blankets.
Arshi felt the bandage, feeling the rough texture. "You're a good person. You care about your kingdom and are making sure people are safe. I admire that in you," she said. Seeing the scientist work made her heart burst. Arshi didn't think she deserved this, not one bit. To be in the same room with her savior, it was nearly too much to bear.

Pasithea sighed, looking at Arshi. "You never waste my time. Just being with you is wonderful. I can quickly solve your issue of not knowing your blood type." Pasithea softly said. She didn't want Arshi to feel bad. Arshi was her happiness, and seeing the love of her life upset made Pasithea's heart ache. If Arshi was upset, Pasithea was too.
Pasithea watched the blood closely, examining how it reacted. "Of course I care about my kingdom. What type of person would just let people die?" Pasithea said. She knew that a lot of people thought bad things about her, and while she did kidnap people, it was all for the benefit of her kingdom. Pasithea thought the people knew that. Sometimes, she wished people were like Arshi when it came to these matters.
Turning around, she gave a paper to Arshi. "AB negative. I was close," she said with a laugh. She decided she should take a break and focus on Arshi for a second. "If you were to want me to make something, what would it be? I've been running low on inspiration lately."

Arshi's face brightened at her statement. She was happy to know that Pasithea wasn't upset with her, even though she should be.
She watched what Pasithea was doing, trying to see what she was seeing. "I know, I know! I didn't mean to say it like you were. A lot of people that I used to know were the total opposite of you. They hurt people and they didn't care," she said, not quite examining the memories that sprung in her mind. It wasn't very pleasant to go any deeper than the surface.
"I hope AB negative is a good thing . . ," Arshi said, not wanting her blood to cause failure. "Hmmm. Well, uh, I hope this isn't too selfish, but maybe, possibly, you don't have to even consider it, but possibly something to regrow my horn?" she asked and then pointed at the broken horn jutting from her head. When it had been broken it had hurt a lot, but now it only hurt if pressure was put on it. It hadn't been broken far enough to prevent her magic, but she didn't like having to see her broken horn every time she looked in a mirror.

Pasithea paused for a moment, considering Arshi's request. "I think I could do that, however, I'd need to chip off a little of your horn to see what it's made of." she said, closing her eyes, imagining the steps as to what she'd do.
"If you'd like, I could lend you a few books that focus on science, so you can understand what I'm doing. I don't want you to feel lost." Pasithea says with a laugh. She's noticed Arshi attempt to process what she was saying before and fail. She always wanted to teach Arshi science and have Arshi help her, It'd be amazing when Arshi wasn't just getting hurt all the time. "I wonder, if you were to regain your horn, would your magic grow stronger?" Pasithea asked nobody in particular.

Arshi inhaled nervously. "If you did, you really do have to do a little. If you took off any more than that I might lose my magic, and I'm not sure if that could be healed without extra steps. But I'm not trying to assume! You can probably do a lot with your skills!" she said, not wanting Pasithea to get mad at her for thinking she couldn't do it. She was perfect, she could do nearly anything.
At the princess's next statement, Arshi beamed and said, "Oh, you would? I can't read too well, but maybe I'll learn how to do that better too! I know I'll never be as good as you, but I will read any book you give me."
Arshi thought about it as well, unsure in the slightest. "Well, I know that really strong Unicorns would be able to even control what the person was doing when looking through their eyes. They don't exist anymore, but your experiment will let us know if it's possible."

"Alright, I'll chip off a small bit. Will you need pain killer? I'm not sure how this'll feel," she asked. Sighing, she decided to give it anyways just to be safe. Taking a pick, she chipped away a small bit of Arshi's horn, making sure to only take the bare minimum. She quickly placed the sample on her desk before getting up and turning around, quickly moving to a bookcase across the room. Her lab coat flew behind her as she moved. When she reached the bookcase, she quickly ran her fingers across the spine of each book, examining each one. Finally, she pulled out three big books with black fabric covers. Sitting down on her bed, she patted an empty spot next to her, motioning or Arshi to sit down.
"These are science books that I purchased when I was... four? They're big, but I blew through all 3 volumes in around 3 weeks. I'll lend them to you for now. If you need help figuring out what a word means, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'll always speak to you." Pasithea said, placing a hand on Arshi's back as she spoke. "And I believe that with me as your teacher, you'll do amazing."
Moving back to her desk, she began to observe the material she chipped off of Arshi's horn. After running a few tests, she brought a hand up to her chin. "How interesting.." she said, looking at her notes again. "It seems to be some king of rock mixture. Mainly sedimentary. Looks to be chalky, containing limestone and gypsum. Appears to have some king of powdery quartz inside it as well, possibly contributing to the sparkly look."

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Arshi was about to say she didn't need it because she didn't want to inconvenience Pasithea, but she gave it anyway. The woman was so kind and beautiful. She couldn't imagine a world without her.
The bit of her horn looked so frail and like a meringue crumb. It reminded her of the past, so she looked away from it. Remembering it would make things worse. Don't remember it. Don't return it.
Distracted by Pasithea's motioning, she moved over, feeling her heart quicken with their close proximity. The books were quite large and she wondered what they were about.
"You purchased those when you were four?" Arshi said with wide eyes. Gods, she was smart. She looked at the menacing covers, feeling like she had to match her pace. It would be hard, but she'd do it for her love. "Thank you. I'll cherish them," she whispered and brought them close to her, hugging the books tight. They were in Pasithea's hands and she hoped to feel some of her warmth.
Arshi didn't know what sedimentary meant, but nodded along anyway. She really was in need of knowledge. She recognized the rock names, though, seeing as she had always had a fascination with rocks and gems. They always had been a part of Unicorn culture, though Arshi was simply sad she hadn't been around to see it. Maybe things would've been better back then, with her loved ones on a little island. But she could hardly call herself an expert, more of an avid fan than anything. It was all the books she had ever read, which had been few.
"Wow, you're so smart," Arshi said, opening the book and trying to read some of the stuff. It was easier to understand than the normal science books Pasithea had, yet still difficult for her to read.

Pasithea smiled turned around in her chair and smiled at Arshi, crossing her arms. "Yes, I did. I'll admit, I did steal some money I needed from my parents, but only a little! You'd be surprised by how many people don't want to hire a princess." Pasithea complained. "You're welcome. If you'd like more books, please ask me. I'd be more than happy to buy some for you." Pasithea turned around and observed the substance she chipped off of Arshi's horn. She looked at it for a bit before taking about half a teaspoon of the powder and placing it into a vial. Pasithea grabbed another vial and poured a rose coloured liquid into the vial with the powder. She looked back at Arshi and smiled. Arshi looked so peaceful, sitting there and observing the text. Pasithea stood up while the girl was distracted and quietly walked over to her. When Pasithea reached Arshi, she practically fell onto her, burying her face into the crook of Arshi's neck, wrapping her arms around Arshi's waist.
"I love you, Arshi," Pasithea whispered, her warm breath tickling Arshi's neck. "I wish I could tell you that more often. I wish I didn't have so much to do, so we could lie here forever."

"Stealing in the name of knowledge is forgivable," Arshi stated thoughtfully, looking up from the book. Well, she could forgive Pasithea for anything, but she believed that doing something bad in the name of a greater good was more important than remaining completely moral.
She grinned wide, smile practically lighting up the room. She cried, "Of course! I will soak up all the knowledge I can so I can be useful!" Truly, there were many times Arshi felt worthless. There wasn't a whole lot she could do other than cheer Pasithea on, but she tried her best to be of service.
She looked down to the book, getting through a page that seemed to be just an introductory. Then all sorts of images were shown of gems, sketched to perfection. To be honest, Arshi was more mesmerized by the images than the text, which was hard to get through and felt at times like climbing a smooth wall. She jumped a bit when she felt warm arms wrap around her waist. She held her breath, not wanting to spoil the moment.
The words could have made her heart stop, had it been weaker. It could have made her faint had she been drowsy. But Arshi heard it all, surprised she was even alive at all. Maybe something inside her fainted, for it felt that she had.
"I-I love you as well," she echoed breathlessly. A fiery blush burned her face and she struggled to not look downwards. "Thank you so much." Arshi felt so lucky for this. She could spend the rest of her days like this, just surrounded with Pasithea's love. That was enough.

Pasithea held Arshi close. She wished this moment could never end. Looking up at Arshi's face, she locked her eyes with Arshi's. A strange feeling built up inside Pasithea. Her heart felt like it was about to burst and she closed her eyes. Even though she was right next to Arshi, Pasithea longed to be even closer.
After a while, Pasithea's gaze drifted off towards her desk. There was a small, black box containing a very precious item that Pasithea wanted to give to Arshi. Getting up, Pasithea took Arshi's hand.
"Will you come with me?" Pasithea asked. "I know it's been forever since you've left my bedroom, but please, it's important." She walked over to her desk and picked up the small box, slipping it into her pocket when Arshi wasn't looking.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Her heart really felt like it had already exploded, the fiery remains burning the rest of her. Arshi could tell Pasithea loved her, and she was sure her love was shown across her entire body. She saw her eyes drift and followed them, but was distracted by her fragmented horn and didn't catch sight of the peculiarly small box.
Arshi was caught off guard, believing at first she meant to another area of the room. It had been quite a while since she'd left, that was true. "Of course," she replied, not bothering to ask where. That wasn't a question needed, for Arshi knew that Pasithea had the better judgement. She'd seen more of the world. "Anything for you." Her skin, will darker than most, was paler than it should be. She hadn't felt the breeze tickle her hair or the sun kiss her skin. Yes, there was a large window, but views were just views. Something to admire, to long for. The only reason she hadn't begged to leave was because of her fear of being captured and of upsetting Pasithea. Still, she was brave enough to leave the room. She told herself this as her smile widened.

"Okay then. Will you come to the garden with me?" Pasithea asked, offering Arshi a hand.
Pasithea's heart was about to leap out of her chest. For the first time in 16 years, Pasithea was nervous. Scared. It certainly felt odd. Is this feeling because of what she has planned? Pasithea shook the thought off. How could something so wonderful cause her to worry? Pasithea didn't get it.
Pasithea opened the door to her bedroom, letting the cold air from the hallway creep into her warm bedroom. "After you," she smiled softly.

(you wanna move to the royal gardens now?)
