Okay, I honestly feel sick creating this topic. I legitimately think I'm going to throw up from how nervous this is making me.
I'm terrified.
Here are the rules. I mean it, people. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES.
BE RESPECTFUL! This is super important. This group is NOT for bashing peoples' opinions. It is NOT for calling people stupid or getting mad at them for not thinking the same as you. BE RESPECTFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO CUSSING!
BE RESPECTFUL!!!!
Be honorable. Don't present misinformation. If you're not sure about something, say so, and give others the chance to do their own research.
Break any of these rules and you are immediately out of the group forever. Absolute. Period. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

Okay, I'm sorry guys, but this is legitimately terrifying, mostly because I know I don't hold a popular opinion.

Here are some more rules:
1) What is said in this thread stays in this thread.
2) If you're going to unfriend me because you don't like my opinion, please tell me before you do.
3) I'm serious. BE. RESPECTFUL. I don't care if you hate someone's guts because they don't like something you do. That is absolutely no reason to be uncivilized.
I'm saying these things because I want everyone to know the consequences if they break the rules. I will not kick you out over having an opinion. I will simply kick you out if you break the rules.
I'm sorry if I'm annoying y'all with my constant restating of the rules, but I'm honestly really scared that some of these threads are going to collapse into a screaming fight. I don't want that. This is debate. This is a safe space.
Yes I'm giving everyone a pre-misbehavior lecture so you don't have to endure one when you've actually done something wrong.

*takes deep breath*

Okay. I'm still really scared to say where I stand because I know it's not popular.

But I don't support LGBTQ+.

And before you unfriend me over that, I want to make clear that I still support the people who are a part of it, just not their beliefs. If you support LGBTQ+, I'm not going to freak out. I still want to have a meaningful relationship with you, even if we don't believe the same things.

Here's why I don't support it:
1) I'm a Christian, and the Bible says multiple places that homosexuality and the like are not morally right. As I take the Bible as my ultimate authority, I don't support the things it doesn't support.
2) I believe your gender is in your DNA, not your mind. But that also stems from my belief in the Bible.

Okay, I'm legitimately having a near panic attack writing all this out as I'm really scared that people are going to unfriend me over this. Please don't. I only want to have a meaningful conversation.

Congratulations if you read all that... :)

Fortissimo (kendra_simps) Don't stress! My goodness, it's okay! I myself do not support LGBTQ in the slightest. I'm a "whole of the Bible practicer" and therefore it is against the laws of my religion to engage in such ways. AND I think the world is horribly screwing children's minds into thinking boys may be girls and vice versa. God made you who you are and I believe he did for a divine purpose.

Lol! I just know there are a few people in this group right now who support LGBTQ+ and are also my friends and it's frankly very scary having an unpopular opinion on such a polarized topic! At least, for someone like me who likes people so much...
I agree with you though, Kendra. I really don't like that the public schools are teaching this to children with no other worldviews being brought in for consideration. This is actually a problem in other circles, like origins and science, as well.

E (musicean) Do I support the organization at all? Absolutely not; it would take way too long to list every single source in detail but I don't agree at all what they [actually] stand for and who pulls their puppet strings [looking at George Soros just for one example]

As an organization, their beliefs make no sense at all and the billion rules they make up for themselves contradict each other a thousand times over.

Now the organization is starting to push hormone blockers for young kids as well as pedophilia (MAP). It all started with "We just want to be able to get married, that's it.". Now we have less than 5% of the [US] population pulling the strings and dictating just disgusting ideas to push on to children.

Pushing past the organization as a whole, Suicide rates and Depression for puberty blockers and Sex Transitioning is [IIRC] somewhere above 70% (I'm thinking IIRC it's closer to the 90%). The question that needs to be asked is, "Why?". It's because there's underlying issues that need to be fixed.

Studies show devastating impacts on childrens' mental development when outside of two gendered parent household. In fact, when looking into the issue, only 1 person out of every single mass shooter in the US had a dad present in the household. There's too many studies to name, but it's crucial for children to have both a mother [female] and father [male]. Anything that promotes destabilizing the family unit (including abuse, drugs, etc etc) I'm firmly not in support of.

Of course for the people themselves, I don't hate them. I'm not a fan of their life style, but don't push it on to me and we'll be fine. My issue comes when you force me to either be an absolute sycophant for what they stand for or else be shunned [or worse].

I agree with you, E. I don't approve of the things the organization stands for. At all. It's terrible how it effects children, as it's basically telling them "you're not sufficient as you are, you better try to switch your gender to be acceptable." It's not okay. That's the main reason I don't stand for it. While accusing Christians of being judgmental and intolerant when they should be loving, much of the LGBTQ community is anything but loving in the least.
I hadn't heard a lot of the things you brought up as I tend to steer clear of this topic as much as possible unless I'm telling people based on the Bible why I don't stand for it, but that's really... very disturbing. I'm going to have to look into it more.

*If anyone in this group supports LGBTQ, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I want to understand where you're coming from too.

Asia | Adventures with Asia Minor (booknerd117) | 84 comments I don't think the LGBTQ+ community should be deprived of any right, at least as defined by the US Constitution. However, that being said, I don't think homosexuality is "okay." Not only does the Bible adamantly condemn it as a sin (https://my.bible.com/search/bible?q=h...), but there are so many scientifically supported harms of homosexuality of people's mental health.

That being said, if anyone identifies as LGBTQ+, I'll still respect them and extend to them the same treatment as anyone else.

I completely agree with you. Those people are obviously still human and still part of our country. I would never dream of depriving them of their God-given rights. Just because people sin doesn't mean they shouldn't live in the US and have rights. We all sin. Everyone.
And no, LGBTQ is not okay, but we shouldn't shun anyone because they identify as such.

Ok here's my thought....I do think some christians just bash the bible all over them and are just like UR GAY U GOIN TO HELL END OF STORY. There's no grace, which is what we're saved by. You get me? I know so many people who used to LBGTQLMNOPQRSTUV or wtv (no offense i just find it funny heheh) and became christians. I believe that we should def. be nice to the community and stuff but not agree or stand with them. Ya know? Maybe share the Gospel with them and try to show them the Truth. ON THE OTHER HAND! I think that the LGBTQ should NOT be taught in schools and stuff. Like I know in some states they teach it to 5 year olds. FIVE YEAR OLDS!!!! LIKE SERIOUSLY!!! But I won't get to deep into cuz I'm heading to bed soon, but that's my thought in a nutshell

I agree with y'all! Just wanted to give a tip tho, like from someone who identifies as gay's POV...

I've had friends who are gay before in the past and that prompted me to look at lots of testimonies from people who used to be in the homosexual lifestyle but left it for Jesus (e.g. Jackie Hill Perry or AFA's "In His Image" documentary). Most people in the LGBT community already know what Christians think of homosexuality and they're taught to think of it as "hate" or "homophobia." It's my personal opinion (after studying lots of testimonies and talking to people in the community) that gay people have already heard that the homosexual lifestyle is a sin a million times and what we really need is a Christian to reach out to them out of love, out of GOD's love, not seeing them as a "project" to convert or anything, but because you genuinely care for them. Don't even mention homosexuality unless they ask! Because they almost certainly already know! The saying "Nobody cares what you know until they know how much you care" always, always applies. It's love and the gospel (not just that a homosexual lifestyle is sinful but that all sin isn't good and also that Jesus loves them and can forgive them) that's gonna change their hearts, yk? And that takes time and you not judging them, even if that's hard to do.

I agree with you Lily. It's hard for me, by my aggressive fix everything nature, to be friends with people who are LGBT and not feel like I need to help them conquer their sin, but I know exactly what you mean. I've struggled a lot with sin of a different breed in the past, and people telling me I was wrong didn't help since I knew I was wrong. It took someone gently asking if they could help keep me accountable that eventually got me out of it.

message 32: by Book - Dragon (new)

Book - Dragon I fell bad for LBTGQ+ people because being gay or being transgender is a problem in your mind. Well, transgender means you have some kind of mind disease that makes you think your a boy or a girl when your DNA says you are the opposite gender. People who are gay I think have something in them that didn't develop properly or all the way. I agree that we don't have to stand with them or support what they say, but we do need to treat them like human beings and people with rights. I also agree that little kids shouldn't be taught this until they are old enough to understand it. I have sooooooooo many issues with the education system. Especially here in Virginia with all the critical race theory that's being taught.

Book - Dragon I have never wanted to be a boy. I love everything about being a girl (Except my period. It's so annoying and painful). My Mom once told me that when she was younger she had wished she had been born a boy. That blew my mind. To me being the girl that God created me to be is the best thing ever.

Right!!!!! I think I get what you're saying, like that no one is born an adulterer, no one is born a fornicator, etc. right? It's just really sad that they're telling kids now that whatever they feel like is what they are. I was a bit of a "tom boy" growing up, like nearly all my friends were boys and I loved messing around outside and stuff, but I knoww if someone told me that maybe I was meant to be a boy, that would confuse me a LOT. And that's not even a problem for me anymore, so I just hate that they're letting like 10-year-olds decide they don't wanna be girls or they don't wanna be boys anymore...
