Classics Bingo 2022

The goal is to focus your reading on literary classics.

Read a classic that fits the description of a square. You may NOT count the same book twice for different categories in this challenge. Each book can be applied to only one square, even if it fulfills the requirements of multiple squares. All books read to mark off squares must be finished in 2022.

Challenge Levels

Level One Bingo
Four Corners: Mark off the four outside corners of the Bingo board.
Five-in-a-Row: Mark off five squares in a row. This can be done horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

Level Two Bingo
Small Box: Mark off all the 9 inner squares of the board (including the free square), leaving blank the 16 outside border squares.

Level Three Bingo
Outside Box: Mark off all 16 of the outer squares, leaving blank the 9 inner squares.

Level Four Bingo
Blackout! Mark off all the squares of the board.

This Challenge Starts 1 January 2022, but the folder & discussion thread are open now so that you can begin to plan your year. Bingo can be planned ahead or you can just collect squares as you read throughout the year.

This challenge can be used with your other challenges. Books and authors selected here can be used to fill other challenge needs.

NOTE: Start your own thread for your challenge in this folder.

Happy Reading!

message 25: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2498 comments Thanks, Katy! I can’t wait to plan this out! I think I am going to try to fill as many categories as I can with books I already own. I need to make space in my bookshelves for new material! This year, unlike my 2021 approach, I am going to take my time with Bingo. I already have a line up of historical fiction to read in our Buddy Read, and I have my ongoing 20th Century Challenge. But I really look forward to the upcoming year and a fresh Bingo card!

Terris | 4440 comments Katy, love the new card! I am happy to see many new categories and some of the old favorites! And I always want to go for the Black Out -- so here we go!! :)

Cynda | 5276 comments Is this the place to ask questions about bingo?

About G4: Group Bingo Participant Pick. Last year when we read Babette’s Feast, a Catching Up friend and I went on to other books by the writer. She chose Seven Gothic Tales, and I read Winter's Tales. Then we said to the other that we suggested these two books to each other. May I read the gothic tales book in fulfillment of G4?

Yes, this is the place to ask questions for the bingo challenge for 2022.

And yes you can read Gothic Tales as your Participant Pick as long as you read the book in 2022 - doesn't matter when it was recommended to you.

Yep! And this is, of course, subject to change till 2022, but it looks like Egypt and Austria are going to work just fine (doubling up my Bingo load again).

I wouldn't have it any other way! If my collection isn't sturdy enough for the task, I'll obviously need to expand my boundaries.

Since I'm hopeless and tend to start reading other books than the one on my Bingo Board and therefore haven't got one singel Bingo Row I shouldn't really try again so soon .... but I will! =)

Wow, caught up - I am very impressed. You can use a short story here also - or if you have read everything on our shelf, you can use a book from our 2022 group reads.
