One True King question

Attention, SPOILER WARNING for anyone who has NOT read one true king yet! do it, then come back ;)

As much as I absolutely love the school for good and evil, I somehow did NOT like how the last book ended.
I mean... why kill Merlin in the end? Why not do it a nice 3 years later or something?! And the way they arranged the wedding... Somehow just no.
Soman, I totally love your books and characters, but NO!! How could you dare killing my favourite character in the LAST PAGES, when there was supposed to be a goddamn happy end.
HAPPY! - You do know what the word stands for, don't you?????????
