Heather | 8550 comments I noticed in this folder that we have Christmas, Hanukkah, and Festival of Lights, But not everyone in this group celebrates any of those. We don't have a thread for just any celebration or holiday that is specifically in December. Perhaps in your country or area of the world, Or your religion, or just family tradition.

So this folding is for everyone who celebrates something in December. I'd like to know what you do!

Also, it would be nice if you would include the colors associated with your tradition. In the USA, the original colors for Christmas were red, green and white. But they have evolved and people decorate in pink, turquoise, and any other color or every color. It's pretty much anything here. But if you use a specific color for your festival, please let us know what that or those colors are. That would be so cool!

I was considering changing the group background picture maybe to a Mondrain that includes all the colors people use during December. So far the only ones I can think or are red, green and white. I will wait a few days to look for a picture. I'm not positive that I can even find one as I'm not that familiar with all of his works, but I'll look.

Please share!

I think there were many festivals held in December, as well as January through November in different countries. The reason nobody chose to share their country's festival, I don't know. Maybe only the lurkers know about the festivals and they don't choose to comment? Maybe you are shy? Or whatever. I don't know.

But one thing we all do have whether we celebrate it in any way or not, is a New year. The calendar turns over from December to January and the year this year turns from 2021 to 2022.

The calendar will never read 2021 again! The year is gone! Hope it was a good one for some or most or even all of you! And I really hope it was better than 2020 for all of us!

I wish you all a wonderful upcoming or it is HERE, 2022 !

Heather | 8550 comments If you want to...Please share with us what you did to celebrate the incoming new year? And I realize that was probably almost a night ago for some people around the world. I'm sorry I'm in a much later time zone and even in my own time zone, it's almost noon!

I'll start: It's easy! I went to bed. I actually could have stayed up. I went to bed around 11:25pm so I could have stayed up a little longer but why? I was alone, don't have tv or watch anything special or the celebration of the New Year, so whoop de doo! Say 'yay' to myself? No, I went to bed and was asleep by 11:30pm. lol

Your turn!

Joseph (jsaltal) Happy New Year!
I just stayed at home and watched TV.
I watched the local ball drop here in western New York on TV, instead of the Times Square one.

Hey Joseph! I was wondering if anyone was going to say they watched the ball drop. But then you said you didn't watch the one in Times Square. But to me, same difference, you live in New York! Happy New Year to you!

Dirk Van | 4641 comments We stayed home too. Everything (pub or restaurant) had to be closed at 11 pm. So almost everyone stayed at home and a lot of them spend their money on fireworks. There was no big fireworks in the city as usual (also cancelled because of Covid).
I thought about going to sleep before midnight, like you Heather. But with all the noise from the fireworks it was not possible.
It lasted until well past 1 am.

Joseph (jsaltal) It was more interesting seeing local downtown scenes on the TV . I don't think I was interested in the music acts they were showing on the scenes from New York City. I could still hear fireworks here off in the distance around that time.
