Kandice | 4387 comments This is one of my favorite novels ever. Don't watch the movie!

Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Amelia Harrell (ameliaharrell) | 114 comments I watched the movie a few years ago. Is it still worth it to read the book?

Oh yes... the book is great. I thought the movie was decent too.

Russ | 9 comments Just finished the audiobook. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks group for recommending this. I will have to try some other Joe Hill books.

Kandice | 4387 comments I guess I am a little hard on the movie because it was never going to live up to what I wanted. I'm usually pretty good about keeping books and their adaptations separate in my mind, but in this instance, it was the first book even approaching horror that I was able to convince my movie/book group to do. I had not seen the movie myself yet, and they all hated it. Probably colored my opinion somewhat.

Definitely. I didn't read the book for along time because of the movie, I'm glad I finally did.

Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments I've started it. Pulls you in immediately this one.

Can't you just close your eyes and imagine how the nubs feel? He's incredibly descriptive!

Lisa Clavey | 1 comments This is my first time reading Joe Hill and it’s been a bit of a struggle for me. It started out keeping my attention but I can’t seem to get through it and just want it to be over at this point- 100 pages left.

Bummer! I find his writing so engaging and thought it was partly because I love both of his parents' writing so much, but clearly that's not it. Is it the writing itself you don't care for, or the story?

Sorry it isn't working out for you.

Yes, totally!

I've finished Horns now and really enjoyed it. I found it to be quite the page turner as I was pretty knotted up inside going through and seeing the path Ig's life was on before the start of the book. : /

The only thing I needed from it was a wee bit more explaining of the how and why.

I enjoyed the mention of Judas Coyne around the midway point. Wouldn't have picked up on that had Heart-Shaped Box not been a recent read here. :) That's got me wondering if the fireman towards the end crops up elsewhere, too. Perhaps we will get to that in 2022!
