It's time for February's nominations. Guess what! It is a special theme month. Since February is our shortest month, I think it would be great to select a short written work. This would include poetry, essays, plays, or novellas (200 pages or less.) The work can be fiction or non-fiction, but please don't include A Vindication of the Rights of Woman!

You can nominate up to two works that are written by a woman and published before 1972. Please state whether or not you can lead the discussion.

Nominations will end the 15th. Please select works that have not been read by this group in the past 3 years. Here is the bookshelf link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books....

For clarification, would a collection of short stories be within the theme?

I would think so unless the anthology runs hundreds of pages.

Lisa, I tried to private message you, but I can't. The moderators send out a general message to all the members for nominations and voting. However, only members who have contributed to the monthly discussions in the past year are eligible to vote. The reason for this is that some members vote for books, but never contribute to the discussion, leaving some discussions threads bare. We want to read books that lead to discussions!

I have check your comments over the past year and I don't see any comments in the discussion threads. However, you have indicated that you would like to read To Kill a Mockingbird, so if you are a part of that discussion or this month's discussion, you will be able to vote and I will add a Lisa - Australia to the list.

Lady Susan by Jane Austen is the winner for February. This is an early work by Jane Austen and is written in the epistolatory style that we saw in Fanny Burney's books.
