For this month I went with This: A banned book for Banned Book Week. I read Lord of the Flies by William Golding, which even though published in 1954 is still on the American Library Association's top 100 challenged books. I had never read it before, and found that even though I was familiar with the general story, the actual plot shift from boys stranded on an island to murderous, wild animals was still a gut punch. I found the children written in a very believable manner, with distinct personalities, and the overarching themes quite compelling. 4 1/4 stars.

I chose That: A book that is a fairy tale retelling. The book I chose was Bound. An excellent Cinderella retelling.

Amy (amybtate) | 16 comments late posting, but in Sept I chose "this" and read a banned book. I read "the hate u give"by Angie Thomas. it was incredibly powerful, and I couldn't put it down.
