Wanda | 767 comments Glad it's soon the weekend! I am almost finished Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips. It's main fictional theme of a mass shooting in a zoo is pretty cringey. I'll be glad to move on to something else. I started listening to How To Pronounce Knife by Souvankham Thammavongsa on audio and I'm loving it! Good stories and funny humor. I see the reviews criticize the short length of her stories but that's the whole point of short stories, a punch in a small package. She sets the stage and your mind can figure out an end. I am a fan. Happy reading to all! I'm all signed up for Secret Sender, it's a feel-good sharing experience and it brings many smiles and good books to our homes. Hope others might join in our fun!

Susan | 852 comments Happy Friday!

This week I finished three books. The People We Keep was another good, lighter read from a friend of mine. A Rage in Harlem was recommended to me by a friend because I liked Harlem Shuffle so much. It was okay - I think the noir writing was just a bit too much for me. I'm going to give the second book in the series a try and see if I like it any better. Also, I finished rereading All This Could Be Yours for book club, and we had a good discussion about it last night.

I'm currently reading A Dream of a Woman - this was longlisted for the Giller and I'm enjoying it more than some of the shortlisted titles. And I'm reading The Fifth Season, which is waaaaay out of my comfort zone but I'm enjoying it so far!

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 465 comments I am getting near the end of Clara Callan it really is a wonderful book, but a quiet reflective book.

I have also been reading Sleep by Nino Ricci-not really my cup of tea, I can't relate to men behaving badly, but I won't write him off as an author.

In audio I am listening to Polar Vortex which is quite good

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1782 comments Happy Friday everyone! I am continuing my holiday reading spurt with the audiobook Wishin' and Hopin' by Wally Lamb. It's very different from his other books I've read. I am still reading Winter Solstice, which is quite long, but a comfort read, so I don't mind.

Wanda | 767 comments @Susan, I like Casey Plett's stories! Interesting and diverse.
@Heather- Clara Callan stays with you...
@ Allison, I had no idea Wally Lamb wrote a Christmas book. So different from his other books!
