Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Well, seeing as I can't stop buying books anymore, I really should think of a better title! I am pretty much going to stick with last year, the slight change is 10 themed months, 1 wild card and 1 reading free books (which slightly goes against my theme, but hey ho, need to tackle those thousands of books, I lost the ability to stop getting free books this year too!). Another difference is that I'm going to fix a couple of the months, I know that June/July are my best reading months, so will do the series challenge then as they are doorstops. And Dec will prob be free books.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Will keep this the same, even though I'm increasing the number of books, as don't think I'll read 3 900+ page books next year!

I look forward to seeing how you fill out your lists. Good luck in 2022.

Emily (readerlover1995) | 195 comments Best of luck, Desley!🐾

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Thank you, I do need to go through my 12+4 to check what covers my themes. I contemplated picking books I want to read under each theme, but then I would struggle taking part in PIFM. I do appear to have bought 12 books this weekend (although Amazon have offered another £5 voucher if you spend £15)

Lea (leaspot) | 3695 comments Desley, this looks great! I am looking forward to seeing the books that you read to complete your challenges. Happy reading!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Thanks Lea, I'm looking forward to it. Good job I made a note of what I picked out for January, as I've forgotten already! All I know is it helps my 12+

I've made about ten lists of what I want to read in January. I keep changing my mind. :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments I only picked the theme, as I need to sort out my PIFM shelf, just can't remember it!

message 24: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2157 comments Sounds great, no pre-defined list, but lots of liberty in what you pick, it should be fun. I can't wait to see your choices and your thoughts on them, happy reading!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Thanks Ioana.

So, I'm doing themed months, January has been picked as continuing series, Serial Eyes will be a summer month as they are my best reading months, classics will be November as I have a few spooky classics. If someone would like to pick a themed month, please say, might be more fun than my current pick out of a tub :-) December will be free books, however I have these going back to 2012, so if someone would like to pick a year, that would also be appreciated.

message 26: by Emily (new)

Emily (readerlover1995) | 195 comments Perhaps some romance themes for February? If you are interested in that.
And for a year…
Hmm… maybe 2016-2017? Tried to split in half with one remaining and that didn’t work out too well! 😅🐾 LOL

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Don't do romance unfortunately Emily. I will put 2106-17 on my list for December.

Great plan, Desley.

I don't think I ever paid attention to what my best reading months are. Interesting, mmmmm.

Bwahaha.....So glad you admitted that you won't ever stop buying books. Honesty is the best policy!! LOL

Good luck and happy reading

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments I've only noticed the last couple of years, when I've been putting how many of each theme I've read, the most books have been June/July, think as I read most when I'm sat outside it makes sense. That is a very good point Beth

Denise (derickert) | 1272 comments Desley between your free books and my free books we could open up a bookstore or even a library...lol My new years resolution is to cut down on the urge to pick up the free books that just keep screaming "pick me, pick me."

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Yes, we probably could! I should try buying less books next year

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments First book of the year read, an enjoyable read. So looking forward to book 2, I only held back so I could tell the hairdresser tomorrow that I'm reading it!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments I finished my second book The Shadow Sister this has been my favourite of the series, I was so impressed with both the strong, independent animal loving women from the past, and the quirky bookshop that allowed you to sit in front of a fire, reading and being given coffee from the current time, I could just read it all over again. 5*

Adding this series to my TBR. Going to be smart and get from the library….lol… unless I can find them in discount stores.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Hope you can get them either from the library, or at a good price. I have the first 5 I think, I got 2 and 3 cheap (1st is on Kindle Unlimited in the UK), and paid more for 4 and 5. 6 and 7 are still too expensive, although I know someone who owns them in hardback, so could borrow them.

This series is on my TBR, glad to hear you are enjoying it.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments I hope you enjoy it when you get to it. I wasn't that keen on the back story of the second book, but this was really good

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments 3rd book finished White Nights, really motoring this month. A 3.5* read

You're reading the Shetland Island series! Loved it. Really enjoy the way Ann Cleeves writes.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Well, I've read the first two! Not sure when I'll get back to it

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments 3 books finished since my last update, 2 were yesterday to make it a clean end to the month! So 6 in total this month, with 2,671 pages - if I can keep that up, I'll smash both my book and page targets! February is Male Authors, between my 12+4, PIFM and Standalone authors, I have 4 target books, although colour challenge is tricky this month. Also going to pick something like James Patterson for my bathroom book, so that makes 5. Do have holidays that need using by the end of March, so could use some of that as reading time. My eye condition has decided to flare up in my 'good' eye, fortunately not affecting my vision much, so will have some apps that I might be able to get some reading done.

Great job of crushing your monthly goal! Sorry to hear about your eye, but taking holiday in February to snuggle up with a book sounds amazing📚☕️🫖=💖

Lea (leaspot) | 3695 comments Great month! Sorry to hear your good eye is bothering you now, hopefully it won't affect your reading too much. I don't have any holidays until late March, so I'm living vicariously through all of you who have something planned. Happy reading!
