The longest walk in the world. From Cape Town to Magadan (Russia), it’s supposedly a 14,000 mile walk that’s technically possible although nobody I’ve read about has ever claimed to have done it. The route passes through 16 countries; South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, Egypt, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Georgia, Russia. So I will aim to read at least one title from each of these countries, preferencing books that I already own.

Plus any interesting side journeys that appeal.

Yrinsyde | 209 comments That is indeed a great list! I'll check some out for my African Book Journey. Have just restarted it.

Thanks! I've pencilled in some backup titles for a number of these countries, which I totally hope to be able to fit in this year, but I just didn't want to put too much pressure on myself (as I usually do haha).

I've really enjoyed my Long Walk challenge this year, especially going off on little side-trips or deciding to stay longer in a particular country (that's probably why I didn't finish!). It's filled quite a few gaps on my Africa list. I'll definitely be continuing my journey into 2023, and possibly even backtracking a little after I reach Russia.
