Ian Price | 2 comments Hey, folks. I wanted to take a moment and tell you about a character in my book.

It's a dark future and Corvin Wyre is a drug addict living in hard times. A bleak nihilism consumed his life after 30 years working as a sniper for all kinds of shady mercenary jobs. One morning, he wakes up from an all-night bender with the worst kind of hangovers. Hating himself, he begins to mindlessly scroll through the TV just to put something on in the background.

Eventually, he comes upon an old re-run of a children's program. There's a man in a green sweater speaking into the camera. The broadcast is old. Corvin knows that the man on his TV is long dead and so are the children he's speaking to. But still... Corvin can't quite shake the feeling that the man on television is speaking directly to him.

The man says, "I like you just the way you are."

And suddenly Corvin feels like he doesn't need to hate himself anymore.

The man on his screen was Fred Rogers, a children's' educator and Presbyterian minister. And Corvin finds himself able to give up on the drugs after become taking Christ into his own heart.

Thank you for reading about a character in my book. Corvin isn't the main character but he's the driving force that makes my protagonist, Benjamin Edge, a better person over the course of it. Writing him was a great way to express my own faith. And I hope you don't mind me sharing that here.
