This can be non-fiction or historical fiction - but it needs to be about or based on an event that actually happened.
Recommendations: Brother's Keeper by Julie Lee (YA) In Harm's Way: The Sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis and the Extraordinary Story of Its Survivors by Doug Stanton anything from the I Survived series (Middle grade) The Light of Days by Judy Batalion (this has a Young Reader's edition AND it is going to be the March book club pick for the Arrrgh Booked Book Club!)
I'm thinking Goddess by Kelly Gardinier. It's a somewhat fictionalized account of Julie d'Aubigny. I read the preview on Amazon & was instantly hooked.
This is of my last prompts and it’s taken me forever to find a book I actually want to finish. I’m reading All Thirteen. Stayed up way too late last night reading the first half. It’s middle grade and riveting and will check this darn box!
