*SPOILERS AHEAD This book was a truly creative and suspenseful novel. The book contained many twists and turns, but nothing sufficed to the final one. More so, it had in-depth character development. whether the character turned for the worst or better. Last but not least, the format of the book was unique and kept me engaged throughout its entirety. First, the book starts off with Amy Adams living alone in her apartment with agoraphobia, meaning she is not able to enter crowded places due to the fear of not being able to escape it. We soon learn that she suffers this disease due to a traumatic car accident she was in with her husband, Ed, and child, Olivia. The novel does not mention anything of Ed's and Olivia's whereabouts in the beginning and only includes conversations between them & Anna; however, with an epic twist we soon learn why the author chose to do that. More so, the characters in the novel are NOT what they seem to be, there is more to them. For instance, learning the true intentions of characters itself serves as a huge twist to the audience. This brings me to the second point: character development. We see major changes in characters such as Anna, Ethan, Alistair, etc. from the beginning to the end. For one, at the end of the novel, Anna is able to face her fear and stand up for her life even with her psychological disorder- something she may not have been able to do in the start of the novel. Finally, the book itself was written in a quite unique way. For instance, books usually contain long and tedious chapters. However, this one was different as its chapters were substantially short- for example, chapters were sometimes one page. Essentially, this made the reader feel like they read a lot in a short amount of period, which I liked. In all, this book was truly interesting to read, and I recommend mystery lovers to give it a try! I rate it a 5/5!
