The Quiet Boy is a short story by Nick Antosca that was published in Guernica magazine. The story is still available online at the mag website for free reading, so you do not have to look far and wide for it!

The movie bears different title, Antlers. It is written in collaboration with the story writer himself.

Very good scary story - I'll recommend you reading it. Interesting how short story form is good for puzzles meant for readers to interpret as they wish. This story isn't any different in that sense, even though I wish it offered more answers. I hope the movie won't be so enigmatic! Considering the author wrote the script for the movie, it should be good too.
