Challenge Corner discussion

Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she would steal her sister's place in the palace. Trained from birth to avenge her parents' murder and usurp the princess, she will do anything to rise to power and protect the community of witches she loves.

Princess Rose Valhart knows that with power comes responsibility including marriage into a brutal kingdom. Life outside the palace walls is a place to be feared and she's soon to discover it is wilder than she ever imagined. Two sisters separated at birth and raised into entirely different worlds are about to get to know each other's lives a whole lot better - but who will ultimately rise to power and wear the crown?

I'll start this right after Together We Burn

Ch 12 (view spoiler)[ I feel bad that Rose has been so misled and brainwashed to believe witches are bad and killed her parents. Hopefully being with Shen and the other witches will change her mind.

I wonder if the prince guy did something to make Rose fall for him or if it's just because she's naïve and sheltered and he was the first guy to pay attention to her?

I like Wren a lot and hope she and Tor get together. Plus he has a wolf who I love (hide spoiler)]

Ch 23 (view spoiler)[ Of course Rathborne wants to keep the throne. I hope the poison kills him, he's a terrible person. And I'm glad Rose is getting the real story of what happened finally so she can see that the witches aren't the bad guys.

Ch 34 (view spoiler)[ I'm sad Rose abanodoned Shen and the witches like that and they don't know that the army knows where they are.

And now Rose sees that she continues to be wrong about Rathborne. When will she learn?? (hide spoiler)]

It's pretty good! And the back and forth points of view helped me get through it faster

Celeste finally got the truth even though Wren is plotting something to get rid of her or so that she doesn't mess with her plans. Celeste is a seer, Rose a healer.. looks like everyone is a witch. Finished - (view spoiler)[I'm glad both of them ended up Queens, it was a bit predictable but that's okay. I forgot this was a first book in a series and not a standalone! So I expected everything to be tied up but nope, Tor is gone, his wolf with Wren and their grandmother gone as well. If I still remember the first book once the second one is out, I'll read it otherwise, probably not (I'm being honest with myself ahah) (hide spoiler)]

Starting this tonight!! YAY!! I am always reading mystery/thrillers and romances so I am ready for a fun change of genre.

Okay, I'm only into Chapter 3 but the best line I've read out of all the books:

"Will you catch me if I fall?" " No, but I'll wave at you on your way down."

That was hilarious

Thru chapter 24 - I could not imagine living my whole life only to find out that it was a lie. To find out that my parents were murdered by the man who was not only my fathers trusted adviser but also the man who raised me. I also think that Celeste will eventually take sides w/Wren and help her take back the kingdom which was rightfully owned by the witches to begin with.

Rose will fall for Shen
Wren will fall for Tor - just wait and see.

Finished- I have been very skeptical when it comes to fantasy books but this one has me wanting to read more of this genre.

I loved that instead of fighting for the title of Queen, Wren and Rose joined forces to rule as two Queens over the kingdom. Rathborne was an evil man. I knew Wren would fall for Tor and Rose would fall for Shen. I hate that the ending left me with so many questions. Will Tor come back to Wren to help her and Rose when the Gevran's decide to attack because mark my word, they will. What will happen to Banba??? I can't wait for the sequel to this!!

Chapter 3
(view spoiler)[I love this so far! I love the good twin/bad twin dynamic (though we haven’t learned much about Rose yet, so she could very well also be bad) and the plot to switch the girls. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6
(view spoiler)[Yikes so Rose has been lied to a lot. Especially by Willem, unless maybe the witches took away Wren before anyone knew of her existence. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It’s kinda sad that Rose is so anti-witch that she literally felt her fingers prickle, SAW Shen’s leg heal, and was STILL IN DENIAL about being a witch😭 (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11
(view spoiler)[For someone who was supposedly raised to take the princess’s place, Wren sure is bad at it😭 I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t get caught/called out soon (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 41-Finish: (view spoiler)[The entire time, I just kept wondering why they both couldn't wear the crown, and then I was like, well, technically, isn't Wren the oldest?! But, sure, Rose can get it because she's been the princess here for almost 18 years. I was glad they were able to defeat the evil guy, but now their grandma is missing. I also need a freaking reunion! (hide spoiler)]

btw, I have the first book on audible and just got the second on hoopla :)
