Toward the end of the story, it seemed like all of the evidence pointed to Alex's plot being thwarted, so when she was released, I found it to be a surprise. As a reader, her release adds anticipation for upcoming books, but personally, I didn't like the idea of her being allowed to go free.
I was surprised. After Kim spoke to the warden about Alex's manipulations, I thought the warden would see what was happening. And, she did. But Alex was prepared for that happening and still had a card up her sleeve.
It was a surprise to me, even with the blackmail of the warden. I was hoping that something would upend her before she walked out that door. And, her release angered me.
It was a surprise to me. Personally, I can't see the warden allowing Alex to get out. I expected her to quit her job, or prepare to fight Alex. She is weak, and shouldn't be a warden.
