Thought I better get my November reads posted before the year end. Nothing great but nothing terrible either.

Good Reads

His Ownself: A Semi-Memoir - Dan Jenkins
Not nearly as fun as the author's novels or actual sports writing but his look back at his early years was interesting. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by Henry Strozier who was a bit bland.

A Pocket Full of Rye - Agatha Christie
When a fairly unscrupulous businessman is poisoned there are plenty of suspects for Inspector Neele of the Yard to sort through but luckily Miss Marple shows up to lend support. Listened to the audio version which was well narrated by Richard Grant.

The Better Angels - Charles McCarry
Very thought provoking political novel written in the late seventies but set near the turn of the 21st century. Some of the plot points were eerily similar to current events and some of the more outlandish ones feel like they could come to pass. A bit slow though and not nearly as good as his spy series featuring Paul Christopher.

The Lincoln Highway - Amor Towles
An enjoyable historical fiction set in the 1950s with a cast of interesting characters and a meandering plot. Listened to the audio version which was narrated mainly by Edoardo Ballerini with help from Marin Ireland and Dion Graham.

The Golden Calf - Helene Tursten
Solid Swedish police procedural. Inspector Huss and her team have three dead bodies on their hands, all shot execution style.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17005 comments Nice list Sandi, I look forward to The Lincoln Highway, having enjoyed the other books by Amor Towles. I had to chuckle at the subtitle "A Semi-Memoir".
