Important info:General Rules
*Only books STARTED after the challenge begins can count. The challenge starts on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 9am UTC time. To see your start time, use this countdown:
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
*Books must be more than 100 pages in length. If it is a Childrens book or a graphic novel, we need to verify it is more than 25,000 words on arbookfind.com.
*Your finished books need to be on your Uno shelf AND marked as "read" for them to count.
* Please make notes of how your book may count. The more options we have the better! (Letters used in UNO are Z,O,T,H,F,I,V,E,S,N,K,P and of course if another team member has read the book before. Please friend our team members!). The tracking spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...) can be used for this.
*For coloured cards, the cover needs to be 50% or more of the colour by using this (https://labs.tineye.com/color/) colour tool. If in doubt, ask me or Ashley as we can check it and/or take to the captains group for another opinion
* Remember we're here to have fun and read lots of books because we love them, if you have any questions o problems, let us know, so we can help you, this is a team game =)
Hello everyone, welcome to the UNO Challenge 2022.I'm Paula, I'm from Chile, I'm 31 y-o and I work in mining consultancy.
I love to read almost any genre, but specially Fantasy and Historical Fiction.
Curious thing, I read all 14 original books in the Oz series, so I'm very happy with our team's name =P
I believe this will be my 7th time participating, I just love this challenge hahaha.
Tell us about yourselves, have you played before?

I have never played but followed it closely last time as some of my friends played. I am excited about playing. I know a lot on the team already! I am from Ohio in the United States and I love challenges
Hi everyone! I'm Ashley, co-captain!I'm 36 years old, and I own/run a family business (Pet Boutique, Bakery and Grooming Salon). I love most genres, but by favorites are PNR/UF and historical fiction.
This is my first year playing UNO, but I'm a veteran of reading challenges and I used to be a mod for a large group on Goodreads (until I took a break after having a baby)!
So excited to get to know everyone and read!
Edited to add: I'm in the CST time zone :)
Ashley I think we have been on a team together before. I love most genres as well but my favorite is paranormal and fantasy. I like some historical if there is some element of paranormal in it. Really I read almost anything from mail order brides to Urban Fantasy. FM to MM.
Hi guys! My name is Diane. This is my second year playing UNO. Just loved it last year so talked my friends Wende and Dee into trying it (well I was very enthusiastic about it!) I live in Toronto Canada and read exclusively MM romance. Within that broad spectrum I enjoy paranormal, UF, action adventure, mysteries, contemporary and most other forms of romance. We are currently digging ourselves out of a massive snowstorm but I should be ready to go by February 1. Am a mother of 4 adults who all have special needs in some form but am lucky enough to be able to be at home to support them.
Hi, I’m Dee. This is my first time doing this challenge. And I’ve never even played the game called Uno. So I may need a lot of directions on what to do. But I do love team challenges, and I’m an avid reader. And like Diane, I’m exclusively MM romance, but any sub genre.
Diane wrote: "Hi guys! My name is Diane. This is my second year playing UNO. Just loved it last year so talked my friends Wende and Dee into trying it (well I was very enthusiastic about it!) I live in Toronto C..."You were very enthusiastic! I am quite excited as well.
Hi Everyone! My name is Natasha. This is my third time playing Uno. I'm loving the team name. Green just happens to be my favorite color! I work for a library in the material acquisitions department, so I have the opportunity to read a lot of new books. I read pretty much every genre but my favorites are Historical Fiction, Mysteries and Nonfiction. I live in Central Standard Time. I look forward to reading with all of you!!
Hi, everyone! My name is Karen. I live in Chicago (Central time zone). I've played a couple of previous times. I really enjoy it. I'm retired and enjoy reading all types of romance. Can't wait to start!
Wende, only the Captains type into the spreadsheet. We can use it to look at to see what cards are still needed.
I think we only post books that are finished, unless we are reading one for a very specific card (like a color card). Our illustrious Captains will let us know the format they want our posts to look like by Friday I guess.
I'll try to clarify a little before Paula gets back tomorrow! We will have a team spreadsheet where you can enter the books you read (if you feel comfortable doing so), otherwise, you can do a completion post and we (captains) can add the book for you.
Hope that helps!
Hola! (my native language is spanish, so I apologize in advance if if my grammar isn't always great =P)I just updated the reserved posts.
In post #6 are all the cards we need to read this month and the link to our tracking spreadsheet. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...)
You can use the tracking spreadsheet as you prefer, for planning or to enter only the books you finish.
The idea is for you to fill all the ways your books work for the challenge, that way Ashley and I can use your books in the best way.
If someone is planning a book that works for the colored cards, let us know, because those are the most difficult to fill (we have a lot of yellow cards!).
Let us know when you finish a book, just posting here and telling us if you put it in the tracking spreadsheet.
Also, if any of you don't feel comfortable using the tracking spreadsheet you can post completion posts like this:
Book:
Author:
Date read:
Card It Can Be Used For: List as many options as possible and how it fits (character, setting, author, title, etc)
For Reverse - Read by: **
That's all I have to say for now
I'm happy that we are all here and I hope you all have a great time during the challenge!!
Any doubts, you can ask here, I know that those who have played before we'll be happy to help. UNO is a super simple and fun challenge =)
I could read:
which could work for Yellow 3 (MC Hemlock) or Yellow 0 as I believe it is a standalone
Also, I could read:
which could work for Green 2 (2nd book in a series) if you think it qualifies as green. Would need to read first book in the series first, though, so let me know if you think it qualifies.
Diane wrote: "Oh, there is also this one:
which I think would work for Yellow 1 as first book in series"I have this one Seizing It
DeeNeez wrote: "Is it allowed for me to read the same book as Diane?"YES! Feel free to read the same book as another team member. Just make sure after you read, to list any card you could use it for, so that Paula and I can move the books around to fit the hands as needed!
Most books will qualify for at least a couple of different cards, so reading the same thing is fine! :)
DeeNeez wrote: "I have this one….Would it qualify for Green 5?"Let me consult with Paula and get back with you about the color. I think I would consider it green, but it could potentially be iffy, so I want you to have a majority yes.
That being said, it definitely will work for other cards as well, so please read it anyway if you want to. We can make it fit somewhere!
Natasha wrote: "I'll be reading: All the Light We Cannot See If we wanted to use that one for Blue 7?"It's definitely Blue, but is it a Seven? I have this one on my TBR list, but I didn't mark it as a potential Seven... that being said, there may be something I missed, so let me know!
Ashley wrote: "Natasha wrote: "I'll be reading: All the Light We Cannot See If we wanted to use that one for Blue 7?"It's definitely Blue, but is it a Seven? I have this one on my TBR list, but ..."
According to the book page, there's a character named Frank Volkheimer, so if the character is relevant it should work for 7
Paula wrote: "According to the book page, there's a character named Frank Volkheimer, so if the character is relevant it should work for 7"Oh yay! I somehow missed that entirely!

Thanks for looking into this for me! I thought I had seen a character with a "V" name somewhere!
This is what we might have covered for now then:COLOURS:
3 Yellow - Ashley: Court (maybe it is more gold than yellow, I don't know)
0 Yellow - Diane: Another Dead Intern
5 Green - DeeNeez: Playing with Spencer
7 Green - DeeNeez: Made to order
9 Yellow - DeeNeez: The Gentleman and the Spy (this might be too gold too)
7 Blue - Natasha: All the light we cannot see
2 Green - Diane: Psycho
1 Yellow - Diane: Howling on Hold
Wild Draw 4, hand 9 - Deeneez: Howling on Hold (1 yellow)
Wild Draw 4, hand 14 - The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2 green)
We should have all covered, but it won't do harm to have backups, just in case any of us can't finish a book =)
This will work for Yellow 3 or 9... if you think it's Yellow enough!
I also thought about reading this (maybe) and could be a Yellow 9 (if you think DeeNeez's option is too gold.
