First thoughts on The Way it is Now by Garry Disher

This was my first non-Hirschhausen Garry Disher read - and it was great! I've since read one of his Wyatt books too, so lots now to add to the TBR. He's a highly talented writer, who really captures an Australian essence in his novels.

Interestingly, this was the second of three books I've read in the past couple of months which is set on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. The first was Christian White's Wild Place, the second (I'm assuming a location somewhere in the vicinity of Frankston from the descriptions) Brendan James Murray's brilliant account of a year in the life of a high school English teacher, The School: The ups and downs of one year in the classroom.

Is this setting familiar to other readers?

I loved this booked and it was my first Disher book. Cannot wait to see what everyone else thinks,

This was my first Garry Disher book that I have read and I loved it and will be looking forward to more especially since I need to add some Aussie male authors for one of my challenges.

I do highly recommend this one

My third Garry Disher and the first non-Hirschhausen too, Disher sure does get around with his story locations.
2/3 rds through the book and things are building up.
I am about to read Christian White's Wild Place as recommended by one of my daughters.

Enjoying the setting, I spent my first 15 years in the Mornington Peninsula, living at Seaford and often travelling to Phillip Island which gets a mention.

The Long Game by Simon Rowell also set here. It was another really good book.

Hi Sarah, all but one of Garry Disher's Inspector Challis / Hal Challis series are also set on the Mornington Peninsula if you are interested.

I have yet to start on the Wyatt series, but it is on the TBR
