Welcome to the Gods & Monsters Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on January 2nd and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Heather, did you read Blood & Honey last month, right?
Mind to make a little summary of what was the final situation? Because I don't remember hahah
I remember that Lou's mother killed Ancel, that she kidnapped the werewolf's kids? and the blood witches "possessed" Lou's body.
Any more that I have to remember?

On page 42

I don't know how to feel yet. Before Célie appeared, I thought it would be a slow and kind of boring? But I'm glad she appeared and is so changed -not the good girl we all thought haha.

Also, I'm not sure WHEN will they will notice Lou is possesed? 🤔

Ahh, just saw your post here... I don't think there is much else of importance that you didn't mention!

I got up to about 20%, just finished the dragon and her maiden chapter in part two.

(view spoiler)[I feel like it took Reid wayyyy too long to realize Lou wasn't Lou lol. Even with grief/trauma as an excuse, she was so off.

I was sad that we didn't have a Lou POV, since she was my favorite character of the book, and she also is the one who unites the group.
Luckily we have her consciousness back?
Didn't expect that freaking Nicholina possesed Gaby's lil brother! She's so creepy :')

I'm only quick because I'm listening to it on audio! Physical books I go way slower with. I'm behind on another buddy read though so I'll work on it today to slow down pace here a little haha

But anyway, I'm getting addicted to it. I didn't get to the chapter you commented before -ugh-, but they discovered it was Nicholina on Lou's body, and now... Let's see if they can save her and what they will do now 🤔

Finally got to the dragon chapter!

Yes, it took long for them to realize she wasn't Lou .. But I thought it would take half the book hahah

I liked the dragon part too, I didn't think Zenna would be a dragon! I like how all the Cirque members are "monsters" now: Zenna a dragon, Thierry a cauchemar (though he wasn't)... What will Seraphin be? Hmm...

Kinda gives that old time "freak show" vibe with all the types of 'monsters' they are! I'll jump back into this tomorrow some to get a few more chapters done.

I've just read "le coeur brisé" and I'm a bit lost with the story about Angelica and Constantin, but I think it's not as important right now.

Well, let's see about the mermaids/melusines. They usually are cruel, and I expect so about these ones too haha

Just finished 'Another Pattern', end of part 2!

(view spoiler)[That entire scene with Ansel and the goodbye there was painful. He was one of my faves all along, I was sad when he died and while I'm glad she got the goodbye with him, it was hard to listen to!

I'm going to jump to The Girl in Red and try to finish it. Depending how work goes today, I may end up back here and getting through more of this one too.

I've cried a lot with Ansel's chapter. He seemed so good and determined, as if he was bigger and stronger now. Too sad he is dead. T. T But glad he could say goodbye to Lou.

It seemed he only warned of the perils of the journey to the group, he wasn't a bad omen at all.

I'm curious about what Reid did and how will he/they find a solution!

Last chapter read: holes in the tapestry (60%~)

Oh, the chapter when Reid woke was kind of painful, but this one was funny hahaha

I love the writing and the relationships between characters and Celievs development is amazing. I hope she will do a nice and awesome something in the near future!

I've finished the book! How about you?

I did like this, in general. All the trouble, all the love -well, except the random sex scenes- that lead them to the ending.
I was so glad Célie was part of the story too. I don't want to say more, because I want to see your comments too~

Hey! So I got hit with covid and haven't been doing much book related - particularly audio. Hoping to get this one finished by tomorrow and then I'll update!

Oooh we are covid buddies then! Don't worry about that I totally understand you. I've read a lot since it was a quiet activity, and that's why I didn't comment more before haha

I forgot to ask: are you feeling better?

Feeling ok now.. first few days were really rough. I have lupus as well and when I get sick it tends to cause that to flare up as well so lots of joint pain. I read quite a bit the last day or two but of a physical read - this ones on audio and I struggle to listen if I'm not also doing something else and energy has just been non existent lol.. How are you feeling??

Finished! I also was glad Célie played a part here - I really enjoyed her dynamic. I loved the ending being from Ansel's POV too <3 Overall, this was enjoyable. I was surprised but how explicit the sex scenes got considering the first two didn't do that.
